Can you explain what happened there.

I must be lucky today my Walmart had 80 boxes 20 rounds of 5.56x45mm ammo. We don't carry that normally.

They were $10.03 after my discount. I don't have $800 so I bought 1 box of 20.

I was out of Special Forces when Trijicons came onto the scene.RRCmdrBennett wrote:Do you like trijicon?
I handled one at a firearms dealers' invitational event in Milwaukee (a dealer took me along as their "Tactical & Police Advisor").
I thought that they were expensive at $250.00.
I should have snapped up a half dozen of them.
I did use Trijicon sights on my Police Carry Guns, and I had a Trijicon Front Sight Post mounted on a couple of my AR-15's. They worked as advertised. I think that I installed them in about 1989. Trijicon gave a useful life span of 10 years. When I sold the guns in 2013, you could see the illuminated sights, if you kind-of used your imagination.

Could you tell me the advantages of an AR-15 shotgun vs a regular shotgun...

Re: New Tactical Rifle Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 (open MSR topic)
I was not even familiar with an AR-15 style shotgun, until you mentioned it. It's interesting, but what is a $650.00 Turkish semiauto really going to do that a $325.00 Remington 870 cannot do, besides make it hard to find replacement parts?
In about 1989, our police department was looking at upgrading their shotguns for the squad cars from our old Ithaca Model 37's. I called about 15 different departments in the Milwaukee area.
As I recall, 1 department used High-Standards, 1 used Mossberg Model 500's, and 13 used Remington 870's (including the FBI & ATF Offices).
Some tactical shooters are going with the Russian AK-style Saiga Shotgun, but those things are going for between $900.00 and $2,000.00.

It was joke cause there are no AR Shotgun. CNN reported that the shooter in the navy had one. There are shotguns that look similar just another example of Left sticking foot in the mouth. I think they were hoping he was shooting an AR-15.

Re: New Tactical Rifle Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 (open MSR topic)
Interesting but its only styled after the AR-15/M16 look same way my crossman .177 bb/pellet gun looks like an M4. I haven't seen the Navy shooter's shotgun but Chris described it as looking like a mossberg 5 round pump.
For a semi auto shotgun in AR style I expected it to be way more than $600. Wonder if its a good quality brand.
I'm sure if a game warden saw me with that kind of shotgun he'd want to inspect it closer with no rifles allowed for deer season.

Re: New Tactical Rifle Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 (open MSR topic)
I went to Dunham's tonight after I dropped the wife off at Best Buy to check on cost of PMags. There were some other "off brands" for sale at $3 less. I was wondering is PMag the only way to go or should I spend a little more for the brand name mag that came with my gun?
Just for kicks I asked to see and handle the Sig 716 Patrol AR-15 in 7.62x51. As fate would have it my wife finished her business in Best Buy and walked up behind me as I had the Sig in hand. Asked me, "You're not buying another gun are you?" Weighing at 9.5 lbs empty it was a heavy beast with a $1999 price tag. The Ak-47 from Century Arms in 7.62x39 was only $899. The Sig uses a gas pistol instead of direct impingement.

Re: New Tactical Rifle Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 (open MSR topic)
For the money, "Mag-Puls" are supposed to be about the best out there.
They are so good that our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan were purchasing so many over "Government Issue" magazines that the Department of Defense put out a directive that troops were not to use "other than issue" magazines.
Within a couple of days, they reversed that directive when they realized that their own arrogance was potentially putting the lives of American troops at risk.
The only issue with MagPuls is that they are a bit thick, and some (mostly 1990's and older) rifles have tight magazine wells that they may have problems with in clearing.

These were labeled Pro Mags in a clear plastic bag. It maybe different than the ones I saw marked PMag at Fin Feather and Fur.
Funny how upper management can't grasp what "boots on the ground" are telling them until its too late.

I just did a check on "Pro-Mag" on the net (most particularly THR/The High Road).
The adjective most commonly used was "junk", followed by "kinda-work".
Personally, all of my AR-15 magazines are either Military Contract (with the upgraded grey follower) or MagPul.

Have you ever had an epiphany where you wondered why I didn't think of that sooner? While putting away two more boxes of 5.56mm in my cabinet I glanced over at my crosman M4 BB/pellet gun that I keep in its box to the left of my stack-on. Looked at my AR-15 and it clicked! Borrow the crossman peep sights to use on my M&P15! I have temporary sights till I can afford better.

Re: New Tactical Rifle Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 (open MSR topic)
Yesterday, I assisted in teaching a State Hunter Safety Course.
The last speaker was a Regional Director from the State Fish & Game Department. He was speaking of how the Department was funded, and how Game Wardens were paid.
He said that the money came from the sale of Hunting/Fishing/Boating Licenses, and for every $.25 that the State raises, the Federal Government matches with $.75 received by an 11% excise tax on the sale of guns, bows, & ammunition.
He then said that, since Obama became president, each of the 50 States has received an additional 1 million dollars per year.
Obama is not a hunter, nor a fisherman, nor a boatsman. So why are the states getting this extra money?
The law authorizing the tax is the Pittman-Robertson Act, and it requires that the funds only be used for Conservation, Wildlife Management, and Hunter/Shooter Education. It cannot be kept by the Government, and must be distributed.
(Class, now we're going to do a math problem.)
If each State receives a million dollars per year, then the Government has distributed fifty million dollars per year.
The Government only distributed the fifty million dollars, because they have received fifty million dollars as part of the eleven per-cent tax on Firearms and Ammunition.
If the Government is receiving an additional fifty million dollars per year, and if this is from an increase in sales of guns & ammunition taxed at eleven per-cent, then how much in additional guns & ammunition have been bought by Americans since Obama became President?
$50,000,000.00 is 11% of what?
11/100 is equivalent to $50,000,000.00 over what?
Answer..........$45,454,545,454.54
Forty-Five Billion, Four Hundred Fifty-Four Million, Five Hundred Forty-Five Thousand, Four Hundred Fifty-Four Dollars and Fifty-Four Cents in Additional Firearms & Ammunition Sales per year since Obama became President.
(and "THEY" can count, too!)

You think its all a ruse to raise $ for federal and state governments? What will they do with the 1 million extra each year?

They can use it for whatever they see a need for in Wildlife Management and Hunter/Shooting Education:
Game Studies & Management, Purchase of Wildlife Habitat, Overtime for Game Warden Enforcement, Extended Hours for State Shooting Ranges, Operation of Fish Hatcheries, etc. A state can blow through a million dollars pretty quickly, if they try hard.

Do you think they were surprised by the outpouring of support for 2A Rights, gun sales, and ammo purchases?

I think that they knew it.
They just don't like it.

This POTUS seems arrogant enough to believe he'll get his way all the time.

Here's another factoid.
It is estimated that there are between 70 and 80 million gun owners in the U.S.
If we take the middle (75 million persons) and divide this into the $45,454,545,454.54 of addidional purchases, it means that the Average Gun Owner has been spending roughly an addidional $606.00 per year on guns & ammunition since Obama took office.

I can account for $1900 in guns plus $100's in ammo myself. I plan to spend another $300+ to replace my .22LR. Its difficult for some people to understand why we feel we need to be armed.
