September Thread
Why is it that the bed you climb into at night is not the same bed you have to pry yourself out of in the morning??? Somebody needs to invent a bed that is as comfortable when you lay down in it as it feels when you're supposed to get out of it!
Seems like fall is trying to move on in. There's a change in the air that feels nice. I honestly love summer, but the subtle coolness in the air that starts to edge in on these mornings does feel good. A welcome change from the heat...

We blew through the cusp and are full on into fall weather here. On Monday Vancouver had more rain then they have had fr the past 4 months combined. Driving home from Rangers meeting last night I looked more like December weather then Aug/Sept. It get's really foggy when it is wet here.
I was outside on Saturday and it went from a light rain to monsoon in about 10 seconds. I was soaked right to my skivys after about 2 minutes.

Oh yeah, I knew about that. I thought you were talking about another chart that showed it broken down by month for the topic starters as well as the overall that's over there ---->RRCmdrBennett wrote:Check right hand pane, "most active topic starters". You are number 2!
I was thinking you may have had more info on your screen than we did because you're a mod, or something.

Re: September Thread
Might as well post it on the screen if he can. He already has the overall posts and then the monthly posts. Then we could see who starts the most new threads monthly as well as in total. Then I can beat you in another monthly category...

Re: September Thread
Woo hoo! We've got Rangers tonight!!
We'll be starting out the year with the entire outpost doing the Archery Merit, both Rangers and American Heritage Girls, except for the youngest age group in both programs.

Re: September Thread
Plowed my first field Saturday, and I had a blast. I think I'm almost a real farmer now. Actually I think I need to actually plant something before I can be considered a farmer, but at least my place has the appearance of it now!
It did take almost all day, even though it's a small field of not more than about an acre, because it has just been grass for years. It's been driven on and was really hard. I think it would've gone faster if I'd have had a chisel plow to get in there and break up the ground, but all I had was a disc harrow. Took a long time for it to get down and make it nice and fluffy. By the end though, I had the axles of the disc harrow down in the dirt.
Only had two mishaps the whole day too. Hit the underground fence for the dog and I nicked the neighbor's fence with the fork on the tractor when I was looking backwards on a turn. I was trying to get the harrow close to an edge I wanted, but neglected to think about the front swing. It wasn't bad though. I told the neighbor and he didn't care at all. Funny thing is that there's a place on the fence a few feet down where he hit the fence himself with his lawnmower and did just as much damage (not much, just a little snag in the chain link), so it wasn't all that bad.
Probably going to sow crimson clover in the field as a fall/winter cover crop first thing. It really puts a lot of nitrogen in the soil so that it should be in better shape next spring. I think the final goal is to make the two sides hay fields, but we'll see how it all goes. Might make one side hay and keep the other side of the driveway for crops.
