March 2021 Thread
Spring is just around the corner, guys! Well, for most of us. Around here, it's more down the street, cross the bridge, turn left and go over the tracks.

Excitement at church yesterday. Plumbers were installing a special hot water tank that goes with our boilers. They got sloppy and damaged/set off a fire sprinkler that flooded the area. Fire department, sprinkler repair guy, flood recovery company....

The whole church, or just the boiler room?

Our church basement has classrooms, kitchen, dining area, etc. About 20% was flooded. Fortunately, our "building" deacon was there and he knew how to shut down the sprinkler system.

Re: March 2021 Thread
A friend sent me a very long video recently, and the speaker brought up John 16:2-3 at the 4-minute mark. I felt a chill. How many times have we read the same Scripture, but the latest reading just jumps out and grabs you by the throat? I can easily see a day when today's leftist "Christians" will approve of our deaths.
COVID THOUGHTS.
The Israeli population has been tightly controlled due to the pandemic. Their gov't now has all kinds of restrictions for those who haven't received a vaccination. But here's info that came out of a recent Israeli study: For those over 65 and who have received the shots, the death rate is about 400 out of every 100,000. (Yeah, those side effects can be nasty.) For those over 65 who didn't get a shot, but were infected by COVID, the death rate is only 5 out of every 100,000.
Also, the authorities and the media (but I repeat myself) are scaring everybody with news about variants that are coming here from other countries. Putting aside the fact that viruses always mutate (that's why they change the flu shot every year), where's the news about the American variant? Is the rest of the world being told to fear us? I haven't heard a word. I think all the variant news is another scam to keep us fearful and willing to stay locked down.

Re: March 2021 Thread
Slowly, very slowly, the failure of public schools to respond appropriately and professionally to the COVID crisis is becoming known. I'm not talking about their shutdown, which is just a reaction to over-hyped fear. I refer to the fact that kids have fallen a year behind, due to the horribly planned and next-to-worthless online model. Nationally, over 3 million students have completely dropped off the public school radar. Those in authority have no idea what's happened to them. And other than a local idea to add an extra year of high school to make up for it, I have yet to read about any plan, anywhere, that addresses the lost year.
As I've mentioned before, those people who have been standing in the middle of the road like a deer caught in the headlights, are going to wake up. They should be able to see that all their trusted institutions have failed them. And they will start to look around for something they can trust. And that would be churches.
My pastor's wife is very involved with the local homeschooling association, and I have a long history with Christian schools. We're going to sit down and put together a presentation for our church families, giving them education options that they may not have seriously looked at before. And since deciding to do this, I've had a much bigger thought.
I would like our church to be the host of an Education Fair, where we would invite all the local private schools and the homeschool group to set up informational booths. And we would advertise it to the whole city.

Re: March 2021 Thread
A Noble Thought.
But....
Maybe the public schools in Montana are a bit more reasonable, but if they think at all like the N.E.A.-driven schools out of New York, Wisconsin, or California;
When it comes down to even sitting at the table with Christian Schools to do something to help the students;
As the clever Vietnamese used to say;
“‘Rrots of Rruck, Charlie....”

I contacted 5; two are onboard so far. Waiting to hear from the others. I'm hopeful.

Re: March 2021 Thread
Our public school district has just announced "forever" summer school. Didn't finish a class? Flunked one? Or you just didn't like the grade you got? Keep on going during the summer months, even into the next year until you're satisfied.
It would be one thing if this was their response to horribly mangling the school year, giving kids grace due to the district's malfeasance. But no, they say that this is their new policy, pandemic or no pandemic. Lowering the bar. Lowering their expectations of students. Continuing to not prepare them for the future. Approaching criminality.

Re: March 2021 Thread
Weather has been a real roller coaster around here lately.
Yesterday 65 & sunny
Today 48 & sunny
Tomorrow 34 & windy with a chance of snow (fist day of my vacation)
Friday 47 & windy
Saturday 62 & sunny
Sunday mid 60's
All next week after I am back to work 70's & sunny
Appears I picked the wrong week to take a couple days off
Love to go shooting, but who can afford that these days
