Hope you have a good trip Dan. Glad you're getting to have family time.RRCmdrBennett wrote:No ya poking the wolverine Philip! I've been on vacation since Wed and traveling since Fri night. I visited my dad in PA and now in Baltimore. Picked up my non resident PA license Sat. I don't need it for PA reciprocity. I got to see my 2 month old nephew being dedicated today. My my how things at my home church have changed.
After church we went to a greek orthodox church festival. I had greek pizza and gyro. Bought a Spartans 480 BC MOLON LABE come and get them tee shirt.
We have a Greek Festival in Columbia every year that has gotten huge. I haven't been in a few years though as it has gotten really crowded. I find that I just don't care for large loud crowds anymore. For one thing I find it hard to converse with people when I'm in a settimg with a lot of ambient noise. My hearing has degraded over the years from 20 years in construction, listening to music too loud and playing in bands. Now I'm a lot more careful about my hearing and wear earplugs religiously when working around noise. Better late than never I guess...

The mainstream media is obsessed with "gotcha!" questions. Carson was asked if a Muslim should become president some day. He calmly and logically made an argument for "no". Over the next few days, the media AND many Republican candidates ripped into him. The result? Carson's polling numbers went way up.
Concerning those kinds of questions, which are only asked in an attempt to make a candidate look bad, I have some advice. Tell the reporter you'll answer the question only after they ask the same thing to a Democrat candidate. End result? No more stupid questions.

Re: September Thread
Speaking of the White House, meetings at the UN with Putin must not have gone very well. Today, the Russians told us to stop flying over Syria. They're going to take care of ISIS on their own. Of course, their first airstrikes were actually against rebel forces fighting Assad. Nothing to do with ISIS in another part of the country.

Hey, how 'bout that Marco Rubio.
2 to 3 weeks ago, he was declaring that Syria was the new Hotbed of Russian Aggression, that they were moving planes & troops into the area, and that they were going to challenge us for dominance in that region.
Obama & Kerry should hire someone like that as a Foreign Affairs Adviser.

Re: September Thread
Well how about four years ago when Romney said Russia was the biggest threat we had at that debate and Obama scoffed at him and made a snarky remark about the 80's calling and wanting their foreign policy back?

But the seas were going to stop rising. And Obama's words and persona were supposed to be enough to cease aggression worldwide. It will be decades, if ever, before we can push the Russians back. The next President will have to start all over.
I'm reminded of how the Iranians believed Reagan's words. To the point of releasing our embassy hostages in the first hour of his presidency. Which of the candidates could do that now?

Re: September Thread
Forgive me, but I'm really tired of the catchphrase "he's the only one who has a shot" as a reason we should vote for someone. How has that worked out the past two presidential election cycles? Then look at the past two mid-terms. People voted for who they thought we best, and while the house and Senate still aren't perfect, I think they're better than they were.

With that in mind do you ever vote third party?

Re: September Thread
I've entertained thought of voting Libertarian as a form of protest.

Re: September Thread
A protest vote is as good as voting liberal. We got two terms of Bubba thanks to all those who were fooled by Perot. If you want to protest, do it before the general election.

Absolutely!
"Fed-Up" Conservatives who voted for Perot instead of G. Bush, Sr is why Bill Clinton became president and got his famous "Assault Weapons Ban" pushed through.
If you want to see it happen again, vote Third-Party.
