One of the frustrations on taking Boys and men on a Outing or more each month is figuring food for the 3 and 4 day events. Wrote this program in the Ranger Database to make this task easier. Start with a empty file and import your breakfast, lunch, supper or special menus like Chicken and dumplings or Chil mac and utensils. All figured with the click of a few buttons.

Once you get your menu configured. How many breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and the number of people attending changes many times often the night before the event. Change that number and this program recalculates your shopping list and it always rounds up on the food so your NEVER short. Room for cooking instructions as well as printable menus and shopping lists. Boys do my shopping so they can understand this shopping list. It's been field testing now on the last 5 events. It works well. Also the boys have a lot of fun pushing the carts through Walmart to pick up the items on their list. Each boy gets a cart and a list of items. Once they get it filled they bring the cart to me and I unload them and give them another list or tell them to leave the other guys shopping alone...GRIN! They never listen to that one.

Also it's fun for the boys to critique the menus on the way back and make it even better for the next trip.

Program download: It's free if you use it please charter your outpost with the National Office.

Once you get the Ranger Database and are using the Permission slips database file and purchase food calculator you can import this data into that program to make your meals.

Thanks Chris. Figuring food is one of my tasks that makes me grumpy. GRIN! I used to get the money up front the Wed night before the event and buy it on Thursday night and then head out on Friday on the event. Always was someone that canceled or someone that said hey is it ok if I bring my 3 cousins along with us....GRIN!

Having home schooled high school age boys now is a nice addition. We just go shopping before we leave on the event and they do the shopping. As long as they hold to the list were fine. Sometimes the store is out of what we need and they figure a work around on the fly. It's good for them as well.

We have a great time getting the grub worked up.
