Regional Events

Post by Phillip Gross on April 9th 2014, 10:08 am

I know they do Camporama every few years at the national level, and there's obviously a yearly Pow Wow in each state, but do they do regional events that often? I haven't heard of anything in the southeast since we've been involved.

I know there is usually ad Territorial FCF Rendezvous every 2 years or so, but with this year being Nat'l, I'd be surprised if any try to do both.

Outside of FCF, IDK

Regional which is territory in FCF I don't recall any events in regular Royal Rangers. Growing up it was sectional pow wow, district pow wow, sectional expo hiking 1 nighter, and 2 FCF traces. Every 2 years is territorial rendezvous, every 4 years camporama, and every 4 yrs is nat'l rendezvous.

The only exception was the 2012 camporama was 6 yrs fro previous. Which I heard ticked a few leaders who had boys that wouldn't be able to attend as an ER. I know the logic was it was the 50th anniversary which was nice to have it then. Only other solution would two do a camporama 3 yrs apart in 2009 and 2012. I don't know if that was on the table when they decided on a 6 yr hiatus.

We have Gulf Region Seminars each year. It's a regional Commanders Conference type of meeting. Used to be ROTY gathering as well.

The regions generally host a WCO as well.

Yes, I forgot the training and conferences for leaders. I guess I thought the question was more about fun events for boys and leaders.

It was, but all information is welcomed! I've looked at the SE website, but there's not much there aside from training going on, as already mentioned.

Well if they're not going to to do bigger camps other than camporama every millennia, then I wish they would do an ALL ranger Pow Wow instead of it being segmented into different denominations.

Thats because CoG and IPHC have opted to be self-governing or autonomous which allows them to have their own staff and do things their way. Think of it as a confederacy with denoms being states and A/G is a "good" weak federal government. There are commonalities between denoms Royal Rangers ministries like curriculum but they can run it as they see fit.

I know IPHC alternates their nat'l camporama to fall right between A/G's camporama and there is flowback and forth meaning each denom can attend each other's camporamas. Each district may vary on their attendance policies. I suppose another denom's outpost attending an IPHC district pow wow or vice versa might just pay the unchartered price since your charter $ goes to your own denom's district.

Yeah, I get all that, but I think it would be nice to periodically combine for big events.

Back in Potomac my section with other sections in our division did a divisional pow wow together but there were issues with there being too many chiefs and no clear chief of chiefs. At least being open to all Royal Rangers is better than being equal but separate.

I believe in one leader system. Everytime it's given to a committee it gets hosed up bad and takes 10 times as long to get anything done.

Best stuff comes from talking about it and then a person with a heart for it develop it.
