Pinewood Derby Crafting Empty Pinewood Derby Crafting

Post by Dave Stewart February 3rd 2020, 11:46 am

Just had our 1'st pinewood crafting day!
Hosted by the Springfield, Mo. Southern and North division, @ Evangel Temple, now since this church is 2.1/2 Hours from us and our appointment was at 8:00 AM we decided to have a Sleep in at our church. we worked on cars, Had a devotional, and were in bed @ 11:00 pm.

Arising @4:30, Having Breakfast, Packing up and leaving @ 5:20 am, stopping for a "Poddy" break at 6:45 we arrived at the church "Barn" We went in and registered. took our cars and went to the Crafting room where there was a commander ready to help each boy with directions to assist the boy with cutting out his design. sanding on the vertical sander, advice and working on the wheels. we left there at about 10:00AM, stopping for lunch, we had 3 excited rangers back @ the church, storing their cars, and on their way home shortly after 1:00 PM
They decided that they wanted to testify to the Church, on what they did on the trip, and crafting their Derby Cars, on Sunday AM service Which the Pastor made time for!

A special Thanks to the leaders of the Southern & Northern Springfield Division Royal Ranger Commanders! for Hosting this event!

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the day. Ranger Derby Crafting has always been a fun day for me.

We used to have a lock in and would invite area churches to come and make cars. Now we invite churches in 2 hour increments and have about 4 waves of boys and girls and parents rolling through with car crafting.

We cut out sand and weight the cars and polish axles and denub the wheels. Most outposts can get some paint and get that part done. So this is working well.

We did a critic meeting and we need to add one more bandsaw and one more drill press to the mix. Over all a great event.

Working with our Rangers and Friends of Rangers is important all the way through all of these events. It's good stuff we do and it pays eternal rewards. Leaders great job for bringing your boys to these events.

The only way right now that we will miss it is if it is canceled due to weather! 1

You mean, "clip-ons" refer to more than just neckties?

I was so concerned when we came down to the work day @ Evangel "Barn" that i forgot to get a kit for myself!
PS a new Ranger showed up Thursday, came because of Ethan talking about the Bat Cave outing!
