Showing Ranger Derby to at Pentecostal Baptist Church
This afternoon I took a couple of hours of vacation time to go over to one of our neighboorhood churches to show them about Ranger Derby Car Crafting. I have talked to the Pastor and a Decon over there 2 times while working on their phone lines.
A Lady that works in the public school accross the street from the ranger annex called and wanted me to show them Ranger Derby. I am not sure what to expect as they are a Black Pentecostal Baptist Church she graduated from Evangel College here in springfield and said the were more like AG then Baptist.
We race on Thursday. It's going to be a busy week. Stopped by a local church last night to give tips on cardboard boat building. Building Ranger Derby cars today. Wed night is our COA over 200 merits and certificates and power point slides and I get to run the COA this time as our SR. Commander is up in Alaska working on a District Royal Ranger Camp. Then Thursday Race day.
Sunday all day building boats! Whooo Whoo!
Last night my son had 2 cousins and another of his friends all hanging in hammocks in the big storm out behind our house. It was thundering and lightning and raining... They had tarps.

WE have a baptist church in our section converting from BSA to Royal Rangers. Don't be afraid Mark it doesn't rub off... J/k.

There is that music I was talking about in my guitar post.
That goes for all the commanders on here....just some have more Rangers and funds to do it with
Is it just in Michigan that people are not supposed to be under trees in thunder and lightning ?Mark Jones wrote:Last night my son had 2 cousins and another of his friends all hanging in hammocks in the big storm out behind our house. It was thundering and lightning and raining... They had tarps.

I read on drudge report men are 6x more likely to be struck by lightning. Now we have the evidence of why that is.

The Big Race is Thursday. I got to laughing inside myself these folks are really greenhorns when it comes to derby crafting. Yet at the level they were at we had a good time at it.
Looking forward to helping out on this small work with this group. Invited them to the Regatta as well.
COA with my church tonight.

Re: Showing Ranger Derby to at Pentecostal Baptist Church
Woo whoo Rangers. We had a whooping 4 cars to race. They did team building 4 boys per car. I took of 4 hours of vacation time. Drove into town 22 miles and picked up one of their deacons (nice guy) we loaded the track in the back of my truck. (Track was borrowed and put back in the protective boxes upside down there were consistant..grin) WE got the track out and assembled it. Got the computer lined up and then the cars showed up. No graphite.
I told them they were a lot like these cars as they noticed they didn't make it to the finish line. I said boys this car Is like you. When the Holy Spirit comes into your life and reigns he can make you go a lot farther than you ever thought possible. We graphited and then the cars sped down the track.
Broke it all down after racing the 4 cars and hauled it back to the annex and then took a rangermobile over to a Ranger Church to see if their parking lot had enough slope... it didn't so we tried the Baptist church next door and found a good parking lot for the races in September...gotta get permission to hold it there.
Then 22 miles back home. Some times the distance we go can only be done by giving God the Glory and doing it as unto Him. You know what it was a lot of work and I know God will reward the efforts. Most likely they will want to do this again at next years conference. If God leads will do it again with His Help.
