Just back from the Oregon coast where I attended an education conference. If you leave Portland out, it's a nice part of the country. While over there, I had dinner with one of my shipmates who worked for me over 30 years ago. As we swapped sea stories, and the wives rolled their eyes, I was amazed at how much technical information he remembered. Must of had a good teacher and mentor. Laughing

Got a chance to meet up with Brother Dan yesterday as he made a trip through Michigan. Its been over 5 years since we have met up in person & it was great to get to see him again.
The expression on my face is because I kept pressing take photo button on the phone & it was not doing anything. Once I stopped smiling it snaps a picture Mad

Stayed in Bew Albany, Mississippi last night headed to SC to drop and pickup a preload to Romulus. Local Pilot has a sign advertising shuttle service on Sunday mornings for church. To bad it isn’t Sunday.

How close is New Albany to you Claymore?

State Patrol Headquarters, where I had to go for my Concealed Firearms Permit. About 1 1/2 hours away. I am 7 miles from Alabama.

However, I haven't been around for the past 48 yours.

I had to drive to Jackson, MS (4 hour drive) and stay in a hotel overnight for a 9:00 AM interview with Mississippi Department of Public Safety to be State Certified as an "Enhanced Carry" Instructor. It mostly consisted of turning in a notarized packet, passport photo, copy of instructor credentials, and background check.

I think that I passed everything. I will know when I look at my e-mail. They are supposed to send my authentication and password to access the State Instructors' Site and the program to print Certificates.

No word from the State, and it is Friday night, so they will keep me on Pins & Needles for the weekend.

Have the pins finally penetrated? Or did they finally get around to telling you?

Today was my last day. I've passed the principal torch and I'm pulling out my retirement to-do binder.

I did the interview in Jackson, MS on Friday Morning, and I received my confirming e-mails Monday at/about noon.

So now I have four big plastic tubs to organize my classes into: Royal Ranger Firearms Safety & Competitions; NRA Pistol Safety Classes; Mississippi Enhanced Carry Program; and Church Safety Training, Qualification, & Records.

Just got back from a nephew's BBQ. In a lot close by are a ton of commercial trucks up for auction next week. Squeezed in is a 1954 Chevy 3600 pickup. An auction video shows it starting up and moving back and forth. It's definitely a project vehicle, but that's such a great year. We were both created then.

I am pleased to report I been offered & have accepted a new job. cheers My last day on the current job will be June 7 (unless they kick me out sooner). I gave my notice Friday. When I got back at the end of the day, I was hauled into the office with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, HR Manager & HR Recruiter.
They wanted to know why I was leaving & if they dangled some carrots in front of my nose would I change my mind.

No way! I am out of here!

I am going to work for a tiny trucking company in the next town over (12 minutes away) The owners are Christians & very nice people. There trucks are all clean & kept in good condition, which is more than I can say for my current employer.

I am super excited, cant wait to start cheers

Best of luck.

It is almost always to be working for Like-Minded Folks.

I know that it has been a grind, but look at where you were 8 years ago...……...

I suppose you already knew that the carrot would never get any closer than that.

I received a complimentary copy of Christianity Today in the mail. The cover story is titled "God Gave Us Oil...Should We Keep Using It?" Another article is "To Save The Animals, Save The Poachers."

I suppose they think they're reaching out to godless liberals who worship their causes. But I think it's a waste of ministry pages.

Interesting...

I don't know how much, if any, I had read it.

Without knowing more about it, I tend to keep the philosophy that there are different outreaches for different audiences.  I recall that, when my wife mentioned to an elder at an A/G Church in Milwaukee, that I watched and supported the 700 Club, he scoffed and said, "Hmff.  Spiritual Bubble-Gum."

He felt that no religious television short of Jimmy Swaggart was worth watching.

Personally, I became a Christian through the 700 Club, and to me, I have an eternal debt to that ministry.  If someone was saved by Swaggart or another ministry, they have the right to feel the same.

So what I am saying is, sometimes it may take a soft putty knife to get into a stuck door.

In fact, an even better analogy happened today at our place. The Wife decided that, today, we were going to take out and clean EVERY window in the house. After a bit of practice and recalling how Andersen removable windows work, things went OK, with the clutch-locks on a couple of the windows being a bit finicky.

Then we came to a window in the guest bedroom. The bottom came out, but it was one that the painter had put in before the varnish had quite totally cured. I pulled and tugged and slapped the window, with no luck. I got a hammer with a rubber tip and rapped on the window, and even had the wife tap on it while I pulled down. No luck.

Then, I went to my dresser and grabbed an old Health Insurance Card (about half as thick as a credit card). I stuck it between the weather-seal and the wood of the window. As I did so, I could hear the varnish cracking and letting go.

After going around the entire perimeter of the window, a gentle pull, and it slid down.

There may be more expensive and polished tools in the shed, but the one that works is the best.
