June 2019 Thread
Summer finally came to my neck of the woods today. 75 degrees...and a lot of Canadian smoke. I hope this isn't the start of a long fire season.

So proud of myself for getting our above-ground pool up and running. Still too cold to get in, but the water is crystal clear and perfectly PH-balanced. Walked out there this morning and found that "someone" had beaten me to the first swim of the season.
But Rocky J. Squirrel forgot he hadn't taken any swimming lessons. This event has been added to the short list of things I'll never tell my wife.

He just sat there on the bottom, looking at the instructor's pole in front of him. If he had been smart enough to grab it, we would have driven him over to the Army recruiter.

Hahahaha... Reminds me when I went in for a GI interview. They told me I passed the tests and could go into any branch I wanted to...so I told them I would sleep on it. The Government Issue in me just wasn't thrilled about having someone calling the shots that was well in my opinion perhaps not the right guy for the job. So I went to work for the second largest Corporation that had the very same issues. I have had some bosses that knew someone to get the job they had. Stupid as a rock. Yet they had the title. It works on the upper side and the lower side of the recruit scale. Love working for a boss that has it figured out. That guy I will go the distance for but he has to earn my respect. I have seen some real pieces of work.

Just back from Pow Wow. My heart sang as I saw our campsite, still in good shape after a 4-5 year absence. We were a small group, but it included our senior and children's pastors. A very late conversation around the campfire last night. I'm encouraged. We'll see what happens this fall.

Never had a tent break down.
Yesterday I was prepping the 5th wheel trailer and noticed a tire wearing unevenly. Well, I thought, I could probably get more life if I rotate it to the other side some day. We took off this afternoon...and got 500 yards. The tread was coming off another tire.
Like I said, I never had a tent break down on me.

Re: June 2019 Thread
Waking up yesterday, it was 44 out there, and our mountains had a fresh coat of snow. After a long night's rain, it's 45 this morning. Waiting for the clouds to move on to see if we have more snow. So much for the official start of summer.

Our Detachment was an Arctic Team. Although I am a "Freezy-Cat", I actually enjoyed it, because it showed you how much you could endure and how to endure it (also taught me how to Ski and Snowshoe at Government Expense).
*However, moving to Mississippi is easier, because you do not have to prep for 45 minutes to go outside.*

Re: June 2019 Thread
New job is keeping me hopping so far. Something new every day. I work mostly Northern Michigan. Had only 1 trip to the Detroit area in the last 3 weeks. Last job I was there every day.

Chris I am excited for you. My brother in law just got off being gone for 2.5 years over the road driving. Man I missed him. He is starting a job that he will be home each night and now we can once again plan on doing family things with them. That driving over the road is a life postponer! Pays the bills but man it's hard on the family.
Glad the new job is getting you home and working out for you. Working all that forced overtime is not worth it. I had to do that for many years and called it blood money. Not having to do that anymore...it could change with the next new idea that comes down the BIG DATA pipe!
