November 2021 Thread
Well, another month come and gone. Our church hosted another Trunk 'r Treat and had a huge crowd for a couple of hours. I'm not a fan of the whole Halloween thing and would rather see the event go away. We've done it for a half dozen years now, and have yet to see anyone come to a service because of it.

Agreed. I am not a fan of churching up the enemy's holiday.
We used to do that too, under our previous pastor. Never added any one to the church. Glad we don't do that stuff anymore.

Last week, with the 2nd string QB, my grandson's FB team won, 6-0. With the 3rd string QB, my grandson's FB team won today, 42-0. But to get to the championship game, they have to beat the state's #1 team next week.

Where's the First-String Q/B?

Re: November 2021 Thread
Wife picked me up Sunday and while waiting to merge in a construction lane we got plowed by an RV. RV sent us careening off and rolling over the embankment landing on all fours facing the turnpike.
Liz was unconscious unresponsive. Eventually came to. I had a sore shoulder and cuts. Liz had cuts and head bled and needed staples. Time dilation effect felt like it was forever till we landed.

Dan,
I’m very sorry to hear of the accident, but glad that you two made it out, alive.
I expect that it was in your fairly-new car, also?

What?!
I just read an article explaining how the ideology of Antifa seems to match up with and explain the Democrat party's refusal to denounce them. It closed with this shocker...
Type in www.antifa.com and see what website it takes you to. Absolutely stunning.

Re: November 2021 Thread
We have two German Exchange Students, here at our Church; one resides with us, and the other, with a family that lives a few miles down the road.
The other, a 15 year-old-girl, knew of my work as a soldier and law enforcement officer. She also heard me criticize the government. She sent me the following message, on Veterans Dat:
"Actually, how does it come that someone who used to work for the government and dedicated their life for it now talks bad about it? This is a serious question, by the way."
My answer:
"I LOVE the Nation, and I would die for it.
Not so much for some politicians.
(Kind-of like your grandpas, in 1944.)"

I've been down sick with the rona for the last week. Cant return to work till Thursday.
Honestly, I have had flu cases that were worse than this.

We wish you the best, Chris.
COVID had me down for 3 weeks, with a fever as high as 102.9.
You’re a lot younger than I am, though.
7 months after having the virus, we took the injections.
I am having second thoughts about the wisdom of that, but I figured that, at my age, chances of mortality from the virus were worse than complications from the vaccine.

Glad you're getting over it. When I had it last Thanksgiving, it was the same for me. Also, buried in last Friday afternoon's news dump, the CDC estimates that about 132 million Americans have had COVID. And there's not a single solitary case of someone with natural immunity passing the virus to someone else.

Isn’t it amazing, how the CDC had so much information, but THAT little nugget was overlooked.
(If they were available in 1938, THEY could have taught the Nazis a thing or two about the Big Lie.)

Re: November 2021 Thread
Just back from my son's where we teamed up on a bathroom tile job that saved him $7000. I definitely appreciate the guys in the trades, but that dollar estimate for something a pro could do in 1 day seems a bit high.
Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

If you've seen The Chosen series, then you know their movie has to be good. Opening on Dec 1st, it's titled Christmas With The Chosen: The Messengers.

Re: November 2021 Thread
I remember several weeks ago saying that we retired folks could step back in and help ease the labor shortage that is plaguing our nation's recovery. Time to put up, or shut up.
I got a call last night from my old school, asking me to come back. A new middle school teacher just turned in her notice.
