September 2021 Thread
Out here, July and August were smoky skies. Now it's a new month and it's "Big Sky" once again.

Claymore,
Have you ever known a “fireteam” to consist of less than 4 members?

Generally a "Fireteam" consists of a Team Leader (Corporal or Buck Sergeant) and 3 to 5 team members.
2 Teams per Squad (led by a Sergeant or a Staff Sergeant), 4 Squads per Platoon (led by a Platoon Sergeant and a Lieutenant), and 4 or 5 Platoons per Company (led by a Captain and a First Sergeant).

Re: September 2021 Thread
Had our first Trail Life meeting last night in the newly minted troop. Had 51 boys attend, many of whom were first timers to any scouting ministry. I made an effort to reach out to a few of the dads and found everyone I spoke with to be genuine Americans. My definition of that is people who love God, this country, and biblical manhood. At first glance it looks like a good group of parents and boys.
We held the entire meeting outside and the troopmaster has made it clear that his intention is to always be outside unless there's inclement weather. He gets it! Boys don't need to be in another setting inside a building sitting around a table.

Outstanding!
I think that it is spiritually and mentally healthy to be around like-minded individuals, so that you can see that the "normal", that is being fed to you by the leftist media is a hoax.
Good luck, and keep up the good work.

Re: September 2021 Thread
Two things came up today in Montana's capitol city. #1 - All city offices are going to mandatory masking next week; #2 - the school district has hired an online education company. Left unsaid: they admit their last 15 months of distance learning was an abject failure. And if they lock down schools again, fully or part-time, the kids will be shuffled off to the online company. Of course, the public school teachers will still continue to get full-time pay.
I will NOT re-start my church's ministry to help parents keep their kids on track with their schoolwork. It's time for the parents to stand up and protect their rights. Freedom is not free. It takes sacrifice and an investment. I've said it before: the value of our country is largely upside-down, with the debt far exceeding its assets. And I'm not referring to financial value.

On my 34 hr reset now. Got into a new Freightliner Cascadia 2021! Finally, room to live and breathe. One new feature I like is the side guard assist detects vehicles in my blind spot with a yellow/red arrow on frame of the right side of my windshield. Yellow for vehicle detection. Turns red and buzzes for when there is a vehicle and my right turn signal is on to warn me. Its my yellow and red alert! There you go Joe another trek reference!
Thanks Claymore. I was curious about the size of the teams cause it was asked on Stargate why they needed to replace a missing 4th team member. I didn’t think a 3 person team was sufficient.

Re: September 2021 Thread
Dan, The "Team" concept is generally an infantry idea. The full name is "Fire Team", and it is for the concept of "Fire and Maneuver". The Squad Leader orders one Team to lay down a base of Suppressive Fire, as the other team moves forward, toward the Objective.
A Team with less than 3 to 5 members would be ineffective, and many more would be close to Squad-size.

In my 45 years of non military experience I figured 3 people would be too few not having at least pairs to split up to do different operations.

3 people can lay down a base of suppressing fire for the maneuvering element (especially if 2 of them are a machinegun crew).

Misery is sitting on aluminum bleachers watching a JV football game in 91 degree weather.
Happiness is watching your grandson rush for two touchdowns and return an interception for another.

10 days later, it's 31 degrees this morning. Good thing I harvested my meager garden veggies yesterday. Lousy growing season this year, thanks to 2 months of smoke, etc. My experimental cantaloupe made it to ping pong ball size.
Our surrounding hills are supposed to get snow Sunday night.

I hear you there.
My son is playing football, he is on varsity this year. "Playing" is perhaps to strong a term; so far (3 games in)all he has done is stand on the sidelines & watch.
He is a junior & there are Seniors that play both of his positions. So he is a back up to the back up

Last week I was at the range practicing with the Hellcat and Sub 2000. Out of 50+ rounds only had 1 “warning shot”…. Just picked up a new Glock 17 Gen 5 in flat dark earth from a local gunsmith/FFL I ordered off of Buds Gun Shop. I’ll break it in this weekend. The FFL put me onto a place local that can plate my AR Lower.

A few of the guys and I spent 3 days painting the exterior of the church. Nice to get that off our to-do list. A couple of the neighbors came by to compliment us on the work. Curb appeal goes a long ways.
God isn't really concerned with the outside, though. It's what's inside that counts. And where it goes.

True, to a point. The outside can reflect the inside as well.

Has anyone seen this about “Remote Rangers”?

I was doing a search for the old Seek and Save to see if it advertised the creation of JBIE Joe mentioned.

In my opinion:
If Rangers was going to do away with the use of actual manuals (which I do not care for, but I am a dinosaur), this is how it should have been done -- with the resource materials available at minimal cost.

Re: September 2021 Thread
I get so many junk calls every day that I decided to see if I was still on the fed's "don't call" list (www.donotcall.gov). Yep, since 2008. It's easy to register, but the law only applies to real companies. So I automatically assume that all calls that get through are from scammers/con men/shysters/criminals. So should you.
Maybe I'll pick up the phone one day. I'm not the type of guy that would have an air horn ready to go. But I'm thinking of having a few well-chosen verses at hand.
