Revisionist history, courtesy of Hollywood. It was good theater for Ben Hur. But anyone worth his salt knows that it was an honor to work on triremes. And each man sought to be promoted to the drum. It was for me.

My medals will mean almost as much as Obama's.
Tim Kaine, the failed VP candidate (and a really creepy guy), was awarded the civilian distinguished service medal by the Sec of the Army...for his efforts in making the Army diverse and inclusive. The Dems are turning once-significant awards into participation trophies. How pathetic. How predictable.

The Progressives have always been jealous of other peoples' accomplishments.
Jimmy Carter hated Special Forces and the Intelligence Community, because he felt that we "fought dirty", and that he could learn anything that he wanted to know with satellites.

I've been wanting a shield or xds for awhile. Helped a friend make decision for ccw pistol. He got the shield for $319. Do you carry the shield instead of the Keltec? Does your shield have the manual safety.
I have the Keltec in my pocket right now, but I wore the Shield yesterday. I'm still trying to find the best way to carry it. For Christmas, my sons got me an N82 ProTandem Holster (similar to a Crossbreed) for it. I chose this model, because it is leather, lined with Wet-Suit Material - which I hope will help to protect it from the perspiration that we have 9 months per year here.
It feels a bit clunky. I'm wondering if, with a pistol as small as the shield, I might have been better off with a holster with a single retaining clip.
As stated before, I am losing weight. Maybe it will work better as I start to get more room in my trousers.

Re: January 2017 Thread
Oh, and the Safety. I tried a Shield in the store that had a VERY light trigger. It felt like about 4 pounds, and it did not have a Safety.
Since I was considering an inside-the-pants in FRONT carry, I did not want a pistol with a trigger that light and no Safety. I ordered one with a Safety, and got it for $320.00 plus $25.00 shipping.
The trigger is HORRIBLE. After putting grease on the contact surfaces, it still has a 12 pound trigger pull.
I can order a kit that installs polished parts and should get the pull down to 4 to 6 pounds, but it will cost me $150.00, plus my Armorer's time (and my Brownell's Sight Drift tool for Smith & Wesson 4506/5906/6906 pistols won't fit my shield without some machining).

I think the trigger feels better on the xds.

Just for information, I'm going to be off the Grid for a couple of days.
So don't think that I'm avoiding anyone. Just may not have access to a Personal Confuser for a bit.
TaTa for Now.

Re: January 2017 Thread
Dan you still UBERING? For the longest time I didn't know what that was. It defies all advertising methods... pretty soon they will make the drivers identify...Logan 5 Identify. (I watched logans run a few weeks back..still in my head)
Seems like it's working well. Lots of folks making some money.
I thought I would make it about you and grant your wish....

Can't remember where and when I watched that movie for the first time...but decided to watch it again on a Netflix DVD last year. I was a bit shocked halfway through when the melting ice cave turned R-rated. Checked the DVD sleeve...rated PG.

Re: January 2017 Thread
Yes. I was surprised as well. PG in those days was some upper body nudity. You can get pretty close to that looking at a sales flyer on sunday morning before church.
Not to dwell on it. Get out of there as fast as you can. It's a trap boys it a trap.

I'm still Ubering and sometimes Lyft'ing. Money is good when there are events and warm weather creates surge price multipliers. Standard rates are pretty much min wage. Just gotta know when to drive and what's going on in the market. In Uber's quest for world domination of the private transportation market they keep dropping rates. Before my time it was $2.25-$2.50 per mile. My market is .77 cents a mile. You can get pings up to 20 mins away but I don't accept any beyond 10 mins away. Min fares for 20 min drive with few people tipping doesn't make it worth it. They'll ditch us in 5-10 years when Knight Rider cars take over.
Logan's run was one of my favorites. Televised broadcasts I don't think showed the nudity in the cave in the '80s. The movie "The Giver" is very similar. I recently saw an article on artificial wombs that might make that future a reality.

You can see lower body nudity on youtube. Guys demonstrating on themselves how to put on a condom. No joke.
