Re: July Thread
You're NSA jab made me truly lol.
I had thought of starting a thread for the gun or a general AR-15 topic cause I wanted to pick your brain. I have shot only one AR-15 rifle last year. I know little about them but want to learn. Is that why you suggested for me to start a topic for it?
Interesting comment sales person made was he thought the M&P I was buying was a better rifle than the Bushmaster cause some believe the quality of the product has gone down since Remington bought it out.

Re: July Thread
Yeah, I heard of some grumblings concerning Remington purchasing Bushmaster, just to get the competition off of the market.
I generally hold Remingtons in high regard, but their "other" semiautomatic rifle, the 742 "Jammaster" was a true lemon. I had a couple of officers bring them to me for repair. The receivers and guide rails wore out way too fast.
I haven't heard anything bad about Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15's. Years ago, when Smith & Wesson tried manufacturing Police Rifles & Shotguns, they didn't fare so well. But the AR-15 is a different cat. It looks like they're doing it right.

Re: July Thread
500 rounds of CCI Mini Mag landed on my doorstep Thursday
I ordered them on February 8th & they finally got enough stock to fill my order They told me that Federal (who owns CCI) has guaranteed delivery contracts with some big customers, like some of the big chain stores. this place did not have a guarantee in their contract, so they were forced to wait for supply to build back up. Have to give them credit for good communication, I got a monthly email from them on the status of my order.

I helped unload the truck of general merchandise today. Something I never do. We received 20 cases of 100 rnds of Federal 9mm Luger for $23 minus discount. The blazer 50 pack yesterday was $20. Glad to see the AR's and pistol ammo coming back up. While everyone else relaxes I'll continue stocking up.

As you may know, I just came back from a 2-week trip to Wisconsin.
During the part where the Wife drove, I sat & lubricated empty cases, then deprimed & sized them with a Lee Hand Press. Then wiped the lubricant off with lighter fluid. While I was in Wisconsin, I went to Cabella's and bought some powder, bullets, new case tumbler, and 1,000 primers. I continued with case preparation on the return trip to Mississippi.
I just finished boxing up 128 9mm rounds, loaded to Factory Specs. Also got in 100 rounds of 7.62 Tokarov ammunition and sent an order to Sportsman's Guide for 3 boxes of 7.62x54 Russian Soft Point Ammunition.
I figure on having more ammunition when this Administration leaves than I had when it came in.

Re: July Thread
I already told this to Dan & Chris:
Because of my background, I do not pre-announce when I am going to be somewhere.
My wife used to think that I was terribly unreasonable, when I chewed her out when she wanted to have the car in the driveway with the trunk open, the kids sitting in the back seat with their beach toys, and all of our luggage stacked outside of the car for 45 minutes before we left on vacation.
Put your packed luggage in the kitchen, we will carry it out, and put it in the car when we're ready to leave. There is no need for every dirtball who drives by to know that we are leaving.

Besides that it can invite squatters to take up residence in your home. Good to have someone you trust check your place too. People don't realize squatters can work he system. As well, you invite burglary.
What kind of vehicle did you drive? I imagine doing all of that you needed a van or RV.

I've got a full-sized 4WD SUV.
It pulls the trailer around the property, gets me down to the range, and with the jump-seats installed, I can carry myself & 6 other rangers from the church to the camp-site.

Insurance is something we all should have. It's paid me several times over the past 30 years. Most theieves are not interested in the real valueable stuff like family pictures, videos keep sakes. The rest of it can usually be replaced.

The Tre Von Martin case this last month has me conflicted on a few things.
1. I believe if someone is assaulting you you have the right to protect your self up to taking the other persons life.
2. I think if a person (private citizen) is armed and they are going in after someone with their gun READY and not waiting for the police to handle it is asking for a VERY CHANGED LIFE.
3. If someone is conceal and carry and someone comes into a place shooting at people randomly I would consider the conceal and carry person a hero if they dropped the shooter with a slug of lead.
It's a fine line. I will error on the side protection. Yet peoples lives have been changed because a person with a gun went farther than they had to. It's something to ponder and pray about.

p.s. If I leave this earth as a Christian I go into Glory a much better place then this old world. If my faith was not in that I would be prepping for what lay wait out there.

Re: July Thread
I've been following the case. Zimmerman's story was he followed Trayvon cause of the recent breakins, he was acting high, and he got out of the car to get a better address for the police. Allegedly the boy jumped him from the bushes. Trayvon was portrayed as an innocent sweet 12 year old boy on the media. He had trouble with the Law. He had pictures of pot plants and a pistol on his cell phone. On Piers Morgan Rachel Jeantel who last spoke to him said he used the term cracka to describe GZ following him. Rachel said in the hood there is two things a smackdown or I'm going to kill you. Stated TM was giving him a smackdown. Right there she admits he was the aggressor. She also mentioned calling GZ a gay rapist. Was it a Hate crime on an allegedly gay cracka rapist?
GZ was seen on the ground being beaten by Trayvon. FL DA didn't indict till 45 days later when Obama admin helped fund protest to get him indicted. It is being used politically to tear down "Stand your Ground" laws. He's portrayed as a white man on black killer. He's Hispanic man with mixed heritage. He's white buttttt Obama is black???? Smh. The real problem is not white on black murders nowadays its black on black killings.
They are pursueing federal civil righs charges. This admin is most corrupt of all time. We can add this DOJ witch hunt to the long list of abuses of power.
As for not having faith in God if you "prep" (ccw) for your own protection doesn't line up. Its no different than prepping for winter by stockpiling canned goods. Going out prepped for a snow storm by wearing thick clothes and a parka. Does God protect us from the elements and provide our food? Yes, but there is a part we are expected to play a role in that too.

I understand where Mark is coming from, but if someone wanted to misunderstand him, it could be taken that you cannot be a Solder or Marine and be a person of Faith, as "most" of their training is "Prepping".
I also find it interesting that I believe that Mark is one of the most proficient "Preppers" in this Forum. Aside from not being a gun-buff, he is probably as good at adapting to primitive situations as any of us.
And as ingenious as he is, he can probably get as much food with a sharp stick & a leaf spring as many of us can with a gun.

Re: July Thread
That's def true Claymore. What Mark says seems to conflict with faith if we prep for an active shooter situation. I chalk it up to being a personal conviction on using guns for self-defense while allowing others who have ccw, police, and military to protect themselves.
For me if we all laid our guns down the enemy would take advantage of that. If it wasn't men fighting with guns we may still be under the Crown of Britain. Many believe we started as a Christian nation but we can't forget it began with bloodshed.
As Christians we should always look for the peaceful way out. Not go around looking to be some action hero. I will only act if there is no other option available. I don't have a duty to retreat but Godly wisdom should prevail and if an out exist I will likely take. Especially, if I can avoid a racial situation like the TM vs GZ.

So your church created the event? I'd love to do a summer camp someday for RR. SC doesn't have one although I hear that both NC and GA's are pretty good. How many years have y'all been doing the camp for the youth?

Re: July Thread
Since 1960 or '61 I asked tonight. It was done at another location prior to us owning the 27 acre campground in the mid '60s. I suppose it has been 52-53 years now.
We have day campers who come each day Mon-Fri, Jr campers ages 10-12, and Teen campers. There is a tabernacle, dining hall with a commercial kitchen, and 12 cabins that can house 180. Dining Hall can accommodate 150. We offer two basketball hoops inside the tabernacle, volleyball, mud volleyball, two baseball diamonds, gazebo, and playground. Before the tabernacle was built it was the site of a large camp meeting tent. In the '60s or '70s I was told that Jimmy Swaggart had preached and played piano under that tent top.
We fellowship with many other independent pentacostal holiness churches. Our kids attend camps hosted by others in NY, Southern Ohio, and Indiana. This pretty much shuts down Royal Rangers for the summer. The Yourh camp was two weeks long till 1996 it was shortened to 1 week. We keep fees to bare minimum at only $60 per Jr/Teen camper. I'm not sure what the daycampers pay for the week. You're welcome to bring a busload of kids up next July!

Re: July Thread
We had a great meeting Wednesday!
only 6 kids showed, but they had fun!
We did another refresher on fire starting. I told them to pair up & gave them a choice of ways to start their fire. Teams 1 choose hand sanitizer, team 2 choose matches & blowing, team 3 decided to try a magnifying glass
10 minutes in: Team 1 in front, Team 2 on left, 3 in back
20 minutes After looking at team 1's fire, team 2 decides to try hand sanitizer
30 minutes: Team 3 gives up & tries the Cochlan's fire paste
S'MORES TIME!

Re: July Thread
Thursday I put my fire building skills to work getting the bonfire going again at Youth Camp. Wed night the camp evangelist used fire craft as a object lesson in his sermon too.
