Re: July Thread
First day of the month. First day of my juice fast. If you haven't watched "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" with Joe Cross then I recommend it!
Although I don't have an issue with weight, I don't feel that I'm as healthy as I should be. I don't eat as horribly as some people, but I don't eat as well as I should either so I'm doing a "reboot".

Re: July Thread
Second day of the juice fast. I feel like I have a hangover. In fact I'm still in bed!
Yesterday was tougher than I thought it would be. I got irritable real fast and realized that I was more food dependent than I thought I was.
For me this is different than just going without food period. From what I understand (which isn't much), the juices that I'm making are triggering detoxification.
I got up this morning and made a glass of juice, watched the Donna Reed show and then went back to bed. Now my stomach is telling me it's time to go make some more juice, but the rest of my body feels like staying in bed!

Our little town of Gilbert has the Peach Festival every year on the 4th so we'll be going up there in the morning for the parade and then later to walk around. We normally go back at dark to watch the fireworks show, buy won't be this year.RRCmdrBennett wrote:What's everyone's plans for the 4th?
Some friends of ours will be flying in from South Korea with their new little boy. They couldn't have children and this adoption has taken almost two years to finalize. We're going to meet them at the airport to welcome them home.

Re: July Thread
Church cancelled tonight so no RR
Was going to be only 4 adults & 2 kids for the whole church.
raining anyway, so fire craft wasn't going to go again. Postponed due to 4 weeks in a row now
We set a local record for most rainfall in June since they started keeping records.
Ah well, starting to feel like -->
I was called into a meeting at work today. (The last 2 times that happened my hours were cut)
Instead I was notified that in addition to my present duties I am now a telemarketer
Truck driver, Shipper Receiver, Forklift operator Telemarketer
At least, now instead of getting sent home early when its slow, I will be put on the phone.
now for a 4 day weekend

Re: July Thread
Winding up the third day of my juice fast. Today was MUCH better than day 1 & 2, especially day 2! Today I went in and out of having headaches as I continued detoxing. I actually feel pretty good at this point.
Thinking about shifting into the next phase tomorrow, which will be eating only whole foods. I just want to be away from all (as many as possible) chemical preservatives, refined sugar, bleached enriched flour, saturated fat, etc.

I did try to watch the show and only saw about 5 or 10 min before it just stopped, but my curiosity was peaked tho so I checked out some of those recipes and they sound pretty good. I clicked past the yoga. Thanks for the info.Phillip Gross wrote:Here's a link if you're curious.

The whole movie is worth a watch if you can find it somewhere like Netflix.
Just be prepared to feel pretty bad up front if you start a juice regimen like this, but it pays off later.

Is there something wrong with Yoga? Can it be done just for exercise?
Had a fun 4th at Cedar Point and Soak City parks and saw an amazing fireworks show.

I think it can. I think it's like dancing. You can do it cleanly, like with your spouse, or you can dance suggestively... like back in the day at da clubs.

Is there something wrong with YOGARRCmdrBennett wrote:Is there something wrong with Yoga? Can it be done just for exercise?
For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” 1 Corinthians 6:20
Some of the very worse spinal misalignments that we have seen in 14 years of practice we found present in the spines of people who make a practice of yoga. Instead, we recommend PraiseMoves to our patients.”
–Dr. Ray Marshall, Marshall Spinal Care Tulsa, OK & Branson, MO
Yoga (“Union with Self”) practice comes directly from a main branch of Hindu religion, which teaches that everything is God. There is no distinction between the Creator and Man. “Man is God.” Yoga is the vehicle to the supposed realization that “man is God.”
Some would probably say they can could do just the exercises, yes but those exercises are sacrifices to the 300,000 hindu gods and when someone younger in faith, or children watch us do it because we think what can the harm be ? Then they think the same way...what can the harm be...it will be good for me and the door for satan has been opened as they go deeper.
PraiseMoves supports the biblical teachings that God is the Creator, and we, His creation, have been made to worship and obey Him, experience healing and have an eternal relationship with Him. PraiseMoves is so much more peaceful and positive and uplifting than yoga. The Word of God used in PraiseMoves always builds people up. For anyone interested see attached sites to get more details.

Had a pretty good meeting tonight. Only had 8 tonight as several were either away on vacation or attending 4th type celebrations. Got into a good game of dodgeball in the rain tonight. Sometimes you've just got to let go and play like a kid!

Re: July Thread
I'd agree Philip there's a big difference between a romantic slow dance with your spouse and Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze.
Many of churches have created a do's and don'ts list for many things that may lead astray. My father in law's church has a document, "advice to members" which advises against all amusement parks (e.g. Cedar point, Disney World), theaters, dancing of any kind, no jewelry, and many other things.
The point of it was to warn that exposure to these places, "may" lead to sin. The document is taken by many as a list of absolute commandments rather than advice. As well the document was published in the 1920's or '30s iirc. Its a bit outdated. Perfect example is most members have home theaters you know tv and dvd players and watch exact same movies as was shown six months ago. They won't go to theaters but will buy a dvd and watch it at home. Is there a difference?
The advice to members doc could not have predicted the eventual creation of home theater systems. Even my church has updated its members agreement to change the no movie rule to no inappropriate movies. We've shown Courageous and Fireproof in our church but never openly encouraged any to go see it in a theater house. Only difference to me was the attendees were all Christians rather than general public though anyone over 16 was welcomed.
Many of the martial arts have some connection to eastern philosophy. Ying Yang symbols are common in schools and dojos. I think martial arts can be separated from the religious part as it is used for self-defense.
Are there any independent studies evaluating Yoga that draw the same conclusion as the Doctor did about spinal injuries? To non Christians his statement would be accused of being biased since he is Christian. Is the recent Yoga trend in exercise a modern reinterpretation? When Hindus practiced Yoga was it with the intent of exercise or purely a form of worship?
I am just honestly asking out of curiosity so I hope no offense is taken.

We finally are getting some sun today, but rain is coming back in later today. Getting ready to head out to my *in-laws* lake house to grill out and possibly do some water skiing.

Well we WERE going to the lake until I had a little sewing accident! Was working on a project sitting on the floor. Needed to shift my position and had the scissors in my hand. As I shifted the scissors caught the floor while my leg continued full speed ahead onto the scissors. Good times! At the ER now for a couple stitches.

^That's my right leg by the way^
I'm back home now and fairly sore! Ended up going by the grill out after the hospital to see everyone. I ended up falling asleep in their living room until we could come home. What a day!
