August 2022 Thread
Let's see if we can connect the dots here:
- Overall, public education has dumbed-down the last two generations.
- Social media rushed in to fill the empty space in their brains.
- Younger people tend not to have critical thinking skills, which would enable them to see what's at the end of their culture-driven road.
Will we have to retrain their brains, in order for them to see the timeless truths in the Bible?
In a word, my pastor says "Yes." Before he came to our church, he was a missionary to Native Americans. He said it was the hardest with college students. The alternative is to wait for people to crash and burn, hitting the bottom of their personal hole. But that's just too painful to watch.

Re: August 2022 Thread
Again, I know I'm preaching to the Ranger Chat choir, and you guys are already involved in intensive ministry. But last night the Lord brought to my mind the verse about milk and meat. It believe that it primarily refers to spiritual knowledge. But I think it can be applied to ministry as well.
Are any of our long-time members holding themselves back by staying in "milk" ministry? (I don't dare define what that is.) How can they be brought to a place where they are ready to stretch their faith and dive deeper?

Re: August 2022 Thread
Perhaps some young whipper-snappers out there can give me some good news about what our government is rushing towards, because I can't see anything positive. I'm referring to digital, cashless currency. Several countries are already there, and Israel is the latest to take steps. Months ago, our own president ordered agencies to come up with a quick study and recommendation. It IS coming.
I can see WHY the left wants it. 1) They salivated over how Trudeau was able to shut down his trucker protests. 2) With all transactions in the cloud, they will receive increased tax revenues and invent new ways to spend it. 3) And they will eventually be able to govern HOW we spend our digital money. Tithes to Bible-believing churches? Wages to Bible-preaching pastors? We're not that far off here in America. It allows the left to accelerate everything that they've been doing.
Am I over-reacting? Am I just a tin-foil conspiracy fan? Right here in Montana there's a test case that is closely related. A pastor is also a real estate agent. He has been fined $5000 by his national association, not for what he did as an agent, but for what he preached in his church. You see, he wasn't LGBTQ-affirming. What we're seeing is something akin to the Red Chinese social credit system. If you've never heard of it, look it up.

Re: August 2022 Thread
My church doesn't have a Wed night program during the summer, but I just got home after a couple of hours there. Someone had smashed the glass of one of the front doors. A couple of years ago we had a special 3M film put on our glass, which slows down an active shooter from getting into the church. It was that film that kept the person from getting in. And our security camera caught the car and its license plate. The cops went to her apartment next.
Bad girls, bad girls, whatcha gonna do,
whatcha gonna do when they comin' for you?

Re: August 2022 Thread
Biden has declared a national health emergency over monkey pox. I'm not an epidemiologist, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. And I have a solution.
"No male gay sex for two weeks to flatten the curve."
But that would be too effective. "Never let a good crisis go to waste." So, what will the Democrats do this time around? Will we see a repeat of all the loosened and violated election laws? Even with abysmally low approval numbers, will the left continue to hold on to power?
This is why I have no confidence whatsoever in the political process. We've been fooled time and time again by our elected representatives, whether we voted for them or not. The uni-party does the bidding of the elites.

Yep
the elites what an electorate that is too stupid & too high to pay attention to what the elites are doing. They just need a legion of useful idiots they call up to do thier bidding.

Well, it took a few weeks, but my wife and I finally finished a tough jigsaw puzzle that took up most of the dining room table. Have you ever had that euphoric feeling of finishing a 2000-piece puzzle? Neither have we. There were only 1996 pieces.

I'm the jigsaw puzzle champion....
I had one that said "4 to 6 years", and I finished it in less than 2 weeks.
