Christian Video Games
The last comment on the January 2022 thread prompts me to begin this one. For several years now, we've heard from studies that show how video games affect our kids. The effects are mostly negative, ranging from addiction to anti-socialization to violence beyond the screen. Parents are supposed to be the kids' first line of defense. But they're distracted and too busy to spend much time being that defender. It's much easier to just give your kid an electronic device and let him have at it.
I'm going to start doing some research and see what's out there as a viable replacement for the junk that's out there. And I invite you to post your own video game discoveries for others to check out.

Re: Christian Video Games
The best thing that I could find was a comprehensive review site. On it you will find hundreds of video games for Xbox, Playstation, iPad, Nintendo, Amazon Prime and more.
www.familyfriendlygaming.com
An Apple game ap called LightGliders comes up on a lot of searches, maybe because they're paying to come out on top. But it does look interesting.

Re: Christian Video Games
I have been playing video games since 1978. I still play video games, including some shooter games.
I haven't shot up any schools or shopping malls.
Is it really the games, or is it the culture & utter lack of parenting these days?
Example: For many years I blamed the violence in black communities on "gansta rap".
It seems to have no redeeming qualities. It glorify's thugs, killing & conveys the message that women are b*tches & "ho's".
But in doing more research I came upon a shocking stat.
77% of black children are born to single mothers.
57% of hispanic children are born to single mothers
25% (18.4 million) of US children live in a home with no father present.
Statistically, a child with no father in the home is:
2X more likely to drop out school
2x more liekly to be obese
4X more likely to live in poverty
7X more likely to become pregnant as a teen
AND are more likely to:
face abuse or neglect
have behavioral problems
commit crimes
go to prison
abuse drugs or alcohol
To my eye, the real problem in our nation is an epidemic of fatherless-ness (is that a word?)
Not only of a lack of a human father to serve as a role model, but also a lack of a spiritual father.
In my opinon: This utter lack of moral guidance is the #1 reason for crime & behavioral problems in our young people today.

When, where and why did it begin? I'm sure it didn't start with PacMan and Donkey Kong. It definitely goes deeper and certainly predates video games. The continual downhill moral slide is a result of, and not the cause of, evil. Then again, evil has been around at least since the Garden of Eden. Is it just that, at all the critical decision points of cultural history, we just chose poorly? Through neglect, have we lost the ability to keep everyone tied to a common set of mores? If so, how do we turn the tide? Failing that, can we build a dike?

As Eccliesiates 1:9 says, there is nothing new under the sun.
Evil has been lurking aorund the edges since the beginning.
In this country, you can almost point the finger at Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society". it created the modern welfare state which destroyed the 2 parent home. Prior to 1964 70% of black children had both parents in the home. 58 years later its 23%. You see similar number changes in other races, although it is most pronouned in the black community.
Church attendance has had a similar decline.
The so-called "great society' was essentially a nuclear bomb to the American family. Now we have a generation of self absorbed young people who have no moral guidance, massive mental health issues, its never their fault even when it is & the world owes them everything.
The enemy really pulled out all the stops on that one.

This is a 5 minute read and addresses the above concerns.
