FCF National Rendezvous 2018 Empty FCF National Rendezvous 2018

First time for me in a long time to miss a National Event. Well I didn't miss it totally. Did go down and visit on midweek for a few hours. Picked up a Damascus patch knife and a all cotton haversack white.

I looked around and noticed a few things.

Numbers were down.

FCF National Rendezvous 2018 Empty Re: FCF National Rendezvous 2018

With us not having Rangers in 70% of our AG churches and stepping back and saying hey... what can we do to fix that. With Rangers Lite going back to less scholastic means. …..

…. wait for it.....

Why not go back and pickup a system that worked great for 25 years with almost no changes in it? It was a well rounded repeating system that taught a very specific set of skills and I will say THEY WERE POPULAR SKILLS. It met every objective of Ranger lite and it allowed folks to get into FCF with out having to do the Advancements and Leadership Levels...just knock out 5 or so merits and your good... those merits that were always popular..

Firecraft

Toolcraft

Ropecraft

Camping

Map and Compass

Nature Study

First Aid and CPR

Some how this all seems so logical. Bible says the Harvest is great and the workers are few. When we tried to make every Ranger a Life Long Servant Leader. Seems like someone wasn't understanding that these two don't line up together..... My experience is. If it's in the Bible it's going to happen. If it's in the mind of man and it leaves the words found in the Bible it's going to fail. So is it a pride issue we face today? Is it wrong to step back and get back on the path that worked for 25 years?

One would think this is a no brainer...specially if jobs were on the line.... Guys let's get back to the plan that worked.

p.s. we are not far from that but it needs a front end alignment to get it back on the road.

These merits are among those that build self-confidence and self-reliance, at the same time giving boys skills that can help others.

I've said it before. Too many people (in all walks of life) feel that they have to keep re-inventing the wheel in order to keep their jobs. Kind of like professors who have to "publish or perish." It all leads to 2 steps backwards for every step forward. Eventually, you reverse-circle yourself to the beginning, but few people can recognize their error and hang on to that beginning. Instead, the vicious circle continues.

p.s. we are not far from that but it needs a front end alignment to get it back on the road.

NO MORE POTHOLES!

Amen! It is so clear to me what they need to do. It has to be the human pride that is keeping them from fixing all the broken stuff.

When you water it down people walk away. David paid for his sacrifice for his sin for if its given to him it means nothing to lose it. Real men want challenge thats toxic masculinity to some. Our culture is removing all challenges which is feminine. NO surprise with the rise of single parent homes and no fault divorce.
