Back pack and Float all in on event! YES!
Living the Adventure! Heading out this evening for a 26 hour backpack and day float on the Buffalo National River in Arkansas. 16 folk going for fun and and adventure Easter Weekend yet back in time for Church and Family on Sunday.
In 5 weeks we go on a High Adventure Trip to the Grand Canyon.
Love living the adventure!
Folks if your outpost is struggling. Take them outside. It builds these boys in so many good ways.
Report and pictures when we get back!

That we be really cool
You are the consumate Ranger leader Mark. I don't know anyone who does it better than you.
I have learned a lot from you, just through the internet. It would be really cool to learn first hand

Re: Back pack and Float all in on event! YES!
Grin. I get told that a lot. GRIN! I just love this stuff.
God informed me when I first got saved he made RR for guys like me. It was a supernatural meeting but I don't recall if I heard it or it just popped up in my mind. Either way I knew it was HIM.
My diplomatic skills are lacking... I am kind of like the last man standing. To brunt most of the time..but my hearts right..... well most of the time..anyway. GRIN!
In 2003 national offered me a job out of the blue. I was flattered. They just asked me to drop in and talk to them and they sprang it on me fast. I said what's it pay. GRIN! I told them I can't take a 3 times cut in pay and vacation and benefits right now. Maybe after I retire..GRIN! Lord impressed on me I did the right thing. Keep it FREE!
While we have to have organizations and leadership. A lot of the time they don't measure up to the calling God has. So we get the human side. Having said that. Today right now. I feel our RR Leadership has their heart after God. It will take some time to clean it up and get back to what works better. Yet it's heading that way.

Mark's too good for the top job he's a working man an excellent enlisted non com in the Royal Ranger ranks. Those who can do others they promote up 2-3 levels.
Only better you could do is strap a go pro cam to your head when you're doing these trips, do a pre trip and post trip videos on youtube. Monetize that and make a few bucks for more or better gear or reinvest it in helping others.

Re: Back pack and Float all in on event! YES!
Yes. I will do that for free. GRIN! I am recording a bunch of video but it takes a lot of work to get it edited down to something that is interesting. Most of the trips I have almost a hour of video on them. Been videoing for several years. I may not be able to go one of these days if our Lord tarries. When that day arrives...I will have plenty of videos to laugh and remember those times.
When I look around. I am the oldest on these trips. One of these days..my body won't let me go. Yet these past two days for at&t suggest I will be going for years to come. Some days my work takes me way past what most folks will do for pay. I just enjoy it. 3" of rain the past two day. Working in all of it and even today on Saturday..a little mad money for a RR grand canyon trip next month.
Yestereday... I laughed at myself. I was thinking..man your good and fast...then it all went south...tore some flesh out of my left hand tall finger setting up a pop of tent due to the deludge...then about 10 things against me. Then I shut a roll out door and found it had rolled back out after I banged my head on it... just about cussed. I stepped back and started laughing... it was getting the best of me. ATTITUDE! Went for icecream and all was better.
Last weekend after the float. We had such a good report from everyone. It was a taste of heaven on this earth we live on.
Ok....tommarrow. Leadership merit sunday 12:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Errr uuuuh...can I get out of it...errr uhhh...NO. Be there I will says me myself and I. Do wished they would go back to leadership camps for these merits. Inside they just get to sunday schoolish after 8 hours.

Re: Back pack and Float all in on event! YES!
Just got home from a grueling day of Leadership merits. Well I made a FCF chair cool all red oak...nice chair. Also got to have the boys use a rope and pully and get my truck up on top of a 8" cinder block and they learned the lesson of a fraud water knot and a real water knot.
I wished these were over night camp outs and not so much class time. Made the best out of it. We had a bunch of leaders helping out so I was able to get some side work done. We got 2 of 15 chairs made up. Made 5 jigs to make the drilling and spacering easier.
My wife is in Israel with her 87 year old Mom and 83 year old Dad. I am batching it!
