Back to Basics Trail
Okay, so based on some prior comments about looking to get back to the older/original advancement trail I have tried my hand at crafting something with current merits.
Optional Advancement Trail
A couple of things that went into this.
1. A focus on the traditional skills of the JB era, yes Camping. Now, I do complete merits at a time, not partials, but I think if you read through it you will see a lot of skills reinforce and repeated intentionally to develop proficiency.
2. I'm borrowing names from several branches of the military. No offence is intended to any of them.
For ease of reference, your Privates are the DR, the Sgts are AR, and the Officers are ER.
3. GMA I personally see that about 16, and I personally am a fan of the Jr. Commander in an attempt to help bridge young men from participation to leadership.
4. I'm using the term Bible Lessons as a general term to avoid confusion with the old/new, orange, brown, Sprit challenge. You as a commander figure out what the bible lessons are, just teach the Word.
5. This is Excel, I'm not that cool, edit as you like.

Re: Back to Basics Trail
Just been looking through this a little more. I like the general feel for this, but have a question. Is there any way to make it so that a boy can come in at any age and start his advancement? To me, someone who comes in at 13 and starts going shouldn't out rank a boy who's been going strong since the 3rd grade. I'm fine with a third year DR outranking a first or second year AR or even ER....

Re: Back to Basics Trail
I like the old way of Trailblazer and air/sea/trail rangers being 7 steps like scouts.

I still need to buy an old Trailblazer handbook so I can brush up on how it was done....

Of course, just run it that way. I put the age notations in as a guide to help give me time references for the # of bible references etc. these are ideas for guidelines. I'm not cool enough to make policy

Relative like how we're related or relative like a sibling?

By the way, who is that emoticon supposed to be?
It looks like Buckwheat of the Little Rascals.

Re: Back to Basics Trail
See, it shows that my "Recent Memory" is deteriorating.
First, I was recognizing the Smurfs of 30 years ago, now it's the Little Rascals of 50 to 60 years ago.
I don't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but I can tell you what I was doing when John Kennedy was shot.
