Yeah.  But I ain't getting paid for this.

There's a difference between getting wounded for a reason and getting wounded for stupidity.

Remember when the Marines made a night amphibious landing on the beach of Mogadishu? And the CNN cameramen were shining bright lights into their eyes? Go back 45 minutes, just before they splashed from my well deck. I had 13 AAVs all revving up and loaded with troops, waiting for the green light to launch. There was a tremendous boom! so I had one of my guys walk up and down the catwalk to see what happened. Negative report. The AAVs splashed and the ship stood out to sea. After sunrise we turned on the well deck lights and found a hole in the steel vent ducting 10 feet from my head. Turned out that one of the AAV crewmen was checking his turret weapons and accidently launched a grenade. The vent duct contained all the shrapnel from the blast. January Greetings Thread 2575533004

Happy Saturday everyone! It's good to be back home!

Going to hang out with the family some today and then go butcher some chickens. I had a rooster I really liked get killed be a rooster that I didn't want to keep, but had put off butchering him just a little too long... Today is his day!

The problem is that I have more than one breed, which was fine as long as the one rooster was from the breed I want most. Then came along a little roo from one of the mixed breed hens. I really just need to cull any mix breed roosters as soon as they crow, but I allowed being "too busy right now" to get me into this situation. Luckily I know a lady who also has French Marans that is willing to give me a new rooster.

Allegedly, the Perfect Snowstorm is supposed to hit about right now. Rumors we may go level 3 emergency condition meaning only emergency vehicles and snowmobiles. Hopefully, I can put in my 8 hrs tomorrow before that happens I won't lose pay and I'm off Mon and Tues. Mon and Tues were supposed to be muzzleloader hunting days for me but that ain't happening.

Our sales hit over $450K and we're a low volume store; we were hopping. My dairy looked like a cyclone hit it and ai was filling milk constantly. Second half of the day I was on my own with some help pulling manual picks for all my outs and lows. Lots of eggs sold today. I think I heard the screams of a million chickens and suddenly silenced... Upside my mgr was more than glad o authorize me to stay over 2 hours as long as I stay under 40 for the week.

Big snowstorm today.  snow  we got 4" overnight & its still coming down. another 1/2" fell during church. We don't believe in closing church just because the weather is bad.  We are open for whoever can be there. Most of the other churches in town closed up Neutral We are supposed to get another 4" by morning.
Our guest Pastor for the day didn't make it. He would have had a 2.5 hour drive on good roads. But that's okay we had a good service anyway. We have a Pastor Candidate coming next weekend so we had lots to talk about. Plus we had a special prayer time & some extra worship on the end.
After church an elderly lady from our church went into the ditch out front. So we went out hitched her car up to a 4X4 & pulled/pushed her out.  It was good fun & saved her a tow truck bill.  Laughing

Today was another busy day in the dairy. Ended the day with an empty floor in the dairy warehouse and all milk was loaded in the doors. Top it off we're not due for another delivery till Tues. Bread was wiped out too. First weekend of the month plus the storm generated $250k yesterday.

I'm gonna enjoy these next two days off.

January Greetings Thread 5C24805F-98CC-4EE0-8B2A-5D59C042F597_zpsezpfo580

This is how bundled up I was yesterday for going out to the store.

Yesterday and today I had some car trouble getting started.  It start sometimes but stall out with an engine light.  I had the booster hooked up to it while starting it wasn't a battery issue.  Texted Chris today he suggested not enough gas or icy buildup in the gas line.  I got some more gas and gas line antifreeze still didn't startup.  I pumped the gas when I started it up before it stalled and that got the line moving I guess and works fine now.  I was fearing a dead alternator.

Car temp read -13 not counting windchill factor.
