All I hear is a 4-letter word "busy". Just razzing.

I like it til I don't. I thrive on being busy until I feel overwhelmed, and then I hate it. Then things settle down a bit and I head straight back to it.

Its sometimes better to want than to have. Its not logical but often true.

Re: December 2017 Thread
A few months ago, the wife and I focused on what we were going to do after retirement. We decided that we wanted to help small country churches. Well, it turns out that Springfield was also wanting to get more into that business, so earlier this year they threw their support behind RAM, Rural America Ministries.
Two of RAM's national officers live...right down the road from us. We met with them today. Excited to get going, to the point where we'll be starting earlier than the summer.

That sounds exciting. What will you be doing? Will you be working just in your area, or will you be traveling?

I'm kind of a Tim Taylor kind of tool man. I know enough to be dangerous. The wife and I see ourselves doing small projects, repairs, painting, and landscaping. Our pastor wants us to organize bigger groups within our own church to go out and do big projects. I happened to mention my middlin' success at writing grants, and the "national" couple was pretty excited.
Personally, I'd rather stay in western Montana, but we'll see what the Lord wants.

Oh Yeah!
I'm sure that you two would be really happy in New York, Philadelphia, or Baltimore...

Re: December 2017 Thread
Does anyone follow the crypto currency news lately? Bitcoin's recent jump to $17k per coin! Would have been something to invest $100 in 2009 at .06 cents per coin would be 1,666 coins x's $17k equals $28.3M minus capital gains tax.
I decided to invest a modest amount of $5 bitcoin and $30 Litecoin nothing I can't afford to lose.

I don't think $35 is going to turn me to eating my family.

And at the store last night, I saw a teenager in shorts and t-shirt walking through the parking lot. Thinning out the herd, or survival of the fittest?

Re: December 2017 Thread
Oh, not so much.
About 35 years ago, when I started off as a "Beat" Cop, I was walking past a video arcade in Milwaukee in January. The temper was around zero, before wind chill.
I was dressed as a Beat Cop in that weather should; hooded parka, trooper hat, long underwear, rubber boots, & lined gloves.
A teen-age boy walked outside, and gave me some sass about being a "pig" or some such thing.
He was dressed "fashionably" with thin pants, a light jacket, tennis shoes, and no hat.
I took him by the arm and around to the front of the building by the street (where the wind was blowing) and said, "You obviously wanted to say something that was just for the two of us. But I was in the Army on a mortar crew, and I don't hear so well, so could you please repeat it?'
He "himmed & hawed" and kind-of said something, but I said, "I'm sure that what you wanted to say was important, so would you please slow down and just tell me."
He started shaking, and we played this game for about 5 minutes, until his teeth were chattering and I think that he was starting to turn blue (but it was night,so I am not sure).
I eventually said, "I still can't understand you, but you'd better get inside. It's kind of cold out here."
The boy darted like a scalded cat.
Never had another problem there with a smart kid in the winter.

I totally get what you were doing. Kind of like a recruiting pep talk for the thin blue line. Too bad he had far less lofty goals and checked out.
