Re: December 2017 Thread
Merry Christmas to all my Ranger buddies in Canada, the States and Singapore! (Did I leave anyone out?) Enjoying my new wood stove this afternoon. Almost feels like I'm camping.

Lucky dog. I want a woodstove. We have gas logs. Fast, clean, efficient heat, etc., but nothing like a real fire.
Merry Christmas to everyone.

What in the world does that mean, anyway? Do partridges go well with pears? A two-fer with one shot?

Well, about as much as Twelve Drummers Drumming, Eleven Pipers Piping, and Ten Lords a-Leaping. Sounds like a Scottish Military Regiment.
The Partridge & Pears are obviously for the Mess Sergeant.

My favorite gift today: "The Story of the Malakand Field Force" written by Winston Churchill. Winnie was a reporter on this 1897 battlefield on the border of Afghanistan. His observations are eerily like those a century later. Nothing seems to have changed with Muslims...history repeats itself.

Re: December 2017 Thread
man is it cold
Last night at work, I pulled into a commercial fueling place to fuel up. I saw another truck in the next lane. The driver was wearing shorts & a sweatshirt! It was 2 degrees with a wind chill around -20!
some people are nuts

I totally get what you were doing. Kind of like a recruiting pep talk for the thin blue line. Too bad he had far less lofty goals and checked out.
One day when our rewards are given out Claymore may find out his brief encounter changed a life forever. We never know.

Shorts in negative degree weather hmm is a very recent thing last couple decades. They want to look "cute" in sub zero temps. They look like idiots. Ranks up there with hip hugger pants.

Re: December 2017 Thread
This has been a more snowy year than others I've experienced since moving here. The most I've previously since in the whole winter season was 30". This is the dry side of the Rockies. But we're going right on past that by tomorrow morning. Good thing it's almost always powder.
