Let's hope it's some sort of subconscious return to a correct course in the military.

I knew you would appreciate the humor in that. I think they need to bring back morse code too. If morse code doesn't survive how will Scotty safely break Kirk out of jail!

Re: October Thread
Second annual family camp is this weekend. I think we have over 30 people going between RR and AHG families. Went to wally world tonight and picked up one of those 10x20 ez-up tents with three rooms and a front porch cover for my brood. Kind of funny compared to the backpacking equipment.

Re: October Thread
I have a large canvas tent with screened-in front porch. It's seen an awful lot of camping over the last 35 years. I had to buy a new set of poles because they disappeared during a military move. Other than that, it's survived everything, including a bear's claws.

I'd love to have a nice canvas tent, but then you're getting up into the thousands.

I love both Star Trek and Star Wars but you committed a grave error in mixing the two.

Yes, and I did it knowingly! Doesn't that make it an even more egregious sin??? "To him who knows to do right and doesn't do it..."RRCmdrBennett wrote:Phillip Gross wrote:But that would be in the future. I thought star trek took place  long ago in a galaxy far far away....

There's property on a nearby lake that my sister-in-law's family has leased for decades. Up until this year, I'd only gone there on July 4th, but they gave us a gate key and told us to use the lot. We sure did, and in appreciation, I just put a 20-foot flagpole in there this morning. Now it looks complete.

I suspected you did that to get me but I opted to assume you were a sci-fi dummy

Re: October Thread
The funny thing is that outside of star wars and Star trek, I don't really like sci-fi movies. I hated the last Indiana Jones movie! Didn't like "Signs", but I did like "The Village" (but that wasn't a sci-fi.

Way too far! I honestly don't even recognize it as a legitimate part of the story. Same with Rocky V and Balboa. They should've stopped after he beat the Russian in Rocky IV.

And then Hillary hit the reset button. Now they've risen from the ashes. Democrats...who needs 'em?

Re: October Thread
Had a good time on the combined RR/AHG family camp this weekend. A few people ended up backing out for one reason or another, but we still had 29 there including my family. Saw a few things that we probably need to adjust for next year that we'll need to discuss in our leadership debrief, but overall it was a great time!

Re: October Thread
There were bits of the 4th Indiana I liked but overall wasn't as good as Ark and Last Crusade. I think the ones thag dealt with biblical archaelogy were the best. Temple of Doom and Skull were not. I liked the scene where we see the ark crated.
Out of the two worst Indy films which is better Temple or Skull?
I consider Indy films sc-fi/Fantasy genre. The lead guy from Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World is allegedly slated to play Indiana in a new rebooted trilogy of Indiana Jones.

Temple of Doom was better than Skull, imo.

Re: October Thread
I typically never feel this way, but I had the thought this morning that it would be great to be able to hit the reset button on this game of life and replay the weekend. I think I would rest this time if I had another chance....
Actually it was just one of those situations where we had a big RR/AHG event planned followed up by my sister being in town from California, so there really wasn't time to stop. But I'm hoping next weekend will be a little slower paced!
