Service Project Expariment - Go Fund Me
So I've got a pair of Rangers at the point where they are working on their Service Projects for their GMA's (we run old school.)
At our outpost, once a project is approved by the necessary people, I allow the Rangers to start up a page at Go Fund me. Now just to clarify, this is by no means the only thing they do. Nor do they get out of all the traditional fundraising efforts from service project past, this is simply to aid in the fact that in the 21st century, many people do not carry cash, with this site they can say "Yes, I can take your Debit/Credit card."
And with the changes of FC this year, I am now even justified for keeping the service projects as the hours aid there.
When you guys get boys there, I'll post the sites for ideas for your options.

Re: Service Project Expariment - Go Fund Me
Bible gives us some good council on these kind of things. King David was offered something for free and he told the guy. If it cost me nothing what value does it hold for me.
The schemes of man rarely pan out. I mean rarely. I think God blesses good intentions and hard work ethic. Yet when were dealing with God things. He wants our faith first in Him and His plan. Then when that is right works comes along side it. There we find the blessing in it.

Are you saying fundraisers are a lack of faith?

I don't think he meant that and didn't take it as such. I think he was meaning if the Rangers thought all they would have to do is set up a site to get their project done, God wouldn't bless that, and I totally agree.
For years now I have tried to be realistic with my Outpost. That yes, theoretically, you could earn GMA by Freshman year. But that rarely happens because of Service projects. That there are fields of good men, Master Rangers even, who never make GMA because they don't invest the blood, sweat, and tears for their project. There are reasons why your window for GMA is 4 years. The website was simply presented as a tool to aid with 2 things. 1.) The rarity of people caring cash today. and 2.) ease of sharing and reaching the ever spread out family / friends people have.
Mark, and everyone, please rest assured I'm making it quite clear to the Rangers that they are still going to need apply themselves and work diligently to earn their GMA's. Not just have a website.

Re: Service Project Expariment - Go Fund Me
Strods you nailed it. Dan you missed it. GRIN! We fund raise with Rib and tri tip sales about 3 times a year. Our outpost has taught another outpost in town how to do this and they use ti as well. Money is no longer a big issue. If we need some funds... we cook meat and presale it. For the money and the work..this fund raiser beats anything I have seen and it produces real cash and people enjoy the tri tips and ribs.
