Re: Culture Rot
Oh I agree with you to some point, but not when their religion (or lack of) starts to prevent us from practicing our religion, which our country was built on. If you don't believe it was, go on over to wallbuilders and look through the information they have there.RRCmdrBennett wrote:

Re: Culture Rot
What is "wallbuilders"?
How does issueing licenses prevent Davis or us from practicing our faith?
I'm not trivializing the gay debate but argueing the various points to hone your apologetics. As Christians we often take much for granted and lack debate skills when confronted by the world.

Re: Culture Rot
I agree with you there to some degree, but I think we also lose debates because we try to have the same jumping off point as the world does, and we don't. The real debate goes all the way back TO the jumping off point itself. Once that is established, there isn't much more debate anyway...

That there are absolutes. To the world everything is relative. Kind of like trying to catch a greased pig...

How do you approach the argument without absolutes?

Re: Culture Rot
That's my point. There ARE absolutes, but the world doesn't accept them as such, so it's difficult at best to effectively argue your point with them. If allowed they will pull big issues down to the level of little issues and say "see, you can't be hard nosed about this because you aren't about that".
That's why I was saying that some of those other examples you cited aren't in the same category of seriousness as gay marriage, etc., so they can't be used to argue for or against it.

Re: Culture Rot
What do you do to demonstrate how bad gay marriage is?
Most think they are like the characters on popular tv shows just they love each other.
Anyone see the new campbell's soup star wars commercial? Guy on right says to a boy, "I am your Father" (vader raspy like voice). Guy on boy's left, "I am your Father"!

Point to Romans... Other than that, I can't convince people of anything. They have to accept truth. I can't make them take truth, all I can do is point to it. But there can't be any compromise on it's seriousness

"What is truth?" (Pontius Pilate, 33 A.D.)
"You can't handle the truth!" (Col Jessup, 1992 A.D.)
We've struggled with this for millennia.
Of course, we've also had the answer for millennia.
"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John, 80-ish A.D.)

Same with the gospel it takes a revelation from God to reveal it.

Re: Culture Rot
Regarding the expanding protests on college campuses that are leading to a shutdown of free speech and the resignation of professors and administrators...
...this is how China's Cultural Revolution started. Aided by a wink and a nod from Mao, rabid students were able to sustain a cultural terror that set their country back by decades. Obama is cut from the same cloth.

On well over 100 campuses and growing, rabid liberals (aka anarchists) are running roughshod. Some of what they're demanding, or else!: free tuition, dismissal of student debt, 30% of each discipline's professors must be minority, segregation, sensitivity brainwashing, etc. Liberal administrators don't know what to do. After all, they did the same thing back in the 60's. What goes around, comes around.

Re: Culture Rot
Define anarchy? To some it really is less limited government. Others its no government.

Re: Culture Rot
I define it in the time-honored sense.
Anarchy - n. 1. Absence of governmental authority or law. 2. Disorder and confusion.
Why would anyone who is NOT for the above want to characterize themselves as being in favor of anarchy?

Without government there is always disorder and confusion? I see so much disorder and confusion in government.
