Re: Culture Rot
Heard a great quote on the radio earlier this week. "When the Democrats win, they are in power. When the Republicans win, they are in office."

Oh, let's look at this objectively.
The effectiveness of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid
vs
The effectiveness of John Boehner and Mitch McConnell

Who likes Ted Cruz or Trump we have diverged into politics now? Culture Rot and politics are like kissing cousins

I like Cruz.... You may not always agree with everything he says, but he stands firm on what he campaigned about. He stood firm in the face of the Rhinos on several occasions.

Re: Culture Rot
I like Trump. I hope he gets in and can make good changes in Washington.
If he can get in and get the economy boiling once again it will make life better for ALL people.
Control of the border is paramount. It must be plugged. It's draining our country of it's resources. Send the illegals back to where they came from. If they don't want to go put them in a work camp until they confess where they want to return home to.
It has to stop because it's robbing our kids and famlies of the American dream.

Re: Culture Rot
I read recently that each illegal family will receive $700,000 in benefits during their time here. Pass a law that will take away all the benefits (state, as well as federal) within 12 months, and the numbers that will self-deport will be enormous.
The second phase is to get control of the program that allows hundreds of thousands to come each year on temporary education/work visas. They expire and no one follows up.
Europe is currently being overrun by North Africans and Syrians. Hundreds drown every month on the seas. A couple of countries have put armed troops on their borders. The chunnel between France and England is regularly shut down by illegals hitching rides on trucks and trains. Everybody has an immigration problem, but we seem to be the only ones not doing anything about it.
My preference would be a Ted Cruz/Carly Fiorina ticket, but I would vote for Trump if he's the nominee. And yes, the Jesus ticket would be the ultimate.

Re: Culture Rot
Good news! Caitlyn Jenner can join the Army in May of next year. Won't be long until Claymore will be having a root beer with her at the American Legion. Yes, that's right. Transgendered things can serve, get treated and operated on, all on the taxpayer's dime. Discharges of about 80 confused people are on hold, so they estimate that there are 12,000 others still in the closet/man cave/whatever.
Yeah, this will turn out well.
And in other news, the Mormon church has decided that they will continue sponsoring Boy Scout troops. I guess their position is continuing to evolve. How inclusive of them. What happens when their first troop is sued for keeping a homosexual man out?

That surprises me. The Mormans are pretty strick on those kind of things. I agree it is just a matter of time before they get the lawsuit.

Re: Culture Rot
I'm sure that every local Boy Scout council, and the troops that they support, all pay dues/registration money to the national headquarters. A franchise fee, so to speak. Does it occur to them that they are, in fact, financially supporting an organization that has embraced homosexual scoutmasters? What will they say when the first boy is sodomized, whether it happens in Utah or not? Somehow, I don't think "We didn't see that coming" will work.

Re: Culture Rot
My daughter went on a rampage drawing attention to Companies that do this and that.
Even at&t has an affirmative action program that gives gay rights and has rallies like what Disney world did for them.
However I have seen them fire them when they won't do their job.
It's all over our culture. It's an abomination before God and I turn away from it when directly confronted..yet when I turn there it is again. Last days seem to be all around us. Best keep our eyes on Jesus and do what we know to do is right.

You should have seen all the big corporations running away from Planned Parenthood when the baby parts videos came out. Big Business is all about protecting their image, because it affects the bottom line. Follow the money. If PP gets away with it, the corporations will go back to supporting it. Dogs return to their vomit.

I have heard the Disney World was an independent event not a corporate event of Disney. I would need more research in order to decide what is true.

Re: Culture Rot
The incoming Secretary of the Army is openly gay. First thing I did was go to the guy's bio. He's been in the Pentagon for 25 years, so he likely knows his way around. But there's probably a hundred people with his resume. He wasn't selected for his abilities. He was promoted to promote the military gay lifestyle.
For the mid-stream transgendered types, I imagine it's no big deal to dig an extra latrine out in the field. But on board ship, there's just no space to accommodate their sanitary needs. I don't see guys or gals sharing their facilities with them. But who cares about the details? The military is carrying out its #1 mission as the cultural experimentation lab.

When I was stationed on ship, we went from being an all male crew to being labelled as co-ed. It involved stationing one female officer inboard. She had her own washroom/quarters. A way to ease into it I guess. As it goes now all Canadian forces units are officially co-ed, Female mess decks are at the Bow and Male mess decks are in the stern. Officer mess decks are in the mid ships. So to support transgender are they going to boot the officers out and turn that into the transgender mess? (appropriate name for it)
Interestingly enough, my spellchecker in the web browser has underlined the word transgender and does not suggest anything to replace it with. Software is smarter then the rest of the world.

I refueled a few Canadian frigates back in the day. Good sailors, as good as we Yanks. But for class and pizzazz, nothing beats the Japanese during an underway replenishment.

Re: Culture Rot
In a way, I really don't mind that America is lately taking a smaller role in world affairs. After all, much of what our culture exports isn't something to be proud of. Still, it grates a little to see Russia filling the void. Putin recently chastised the UN for its sorry record in protecting human rights, especially the family. So, he preaches to us and fills power voids that Obama gifts. After a 40-year absence, Russia is back in the mid-East, building bases and doing the work that Americans won't do (wiping out ISIS).

Re: Culture Rot
Liberals praised the recent visit of Pope Francis, who loudly validated many of their extreme beliefs. In fact, any mention of the Catholic church's condemnation of gay marriage and abortion was self-muted. And then, it leaked out that the Holy See had secretly met Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who was jailed for her religious convictions.
The left was dismayed and outraged, with one magazine cover proclaiming that Francis was now "The Uncool Pope." Today, a Vatican spokesman said that "The Pope meeting...should not be considered a form of support of her position" and that there is a "sense of regret" over the encounter.
Kim Davis, and anyone else who chooses to stand firm on the Bible, was thrown under the bus. In a word, a shameful act by someone who claims to be a descendant of Peter and the leader of one-third of the world's Christians.

And now, from the Catholic governor who signed an assisted-death law earlier this year...
California Gov. Brown signed a law yesterday, making it mandatory for pro-life clinics to tell patients where they can get an abortion. What will they do? Challenge the law, or cave in? Pray that they get strength to stand.

Re: Culture Rot
In reference to Kim Davis I feel she is not the best example of Christian living. I heard it was a lie on Davis's part that she met the pope.
I don't support gay marriage but to me its a "legal contract" not real union. She either should do her job or quit. If I'm a muslim steward do I refuse to serve wine on a plane. If I'm a Jew do I refuse to tag and stock pork if I'm a meat worker at Walmart? If I belong to a strict "no marriage after divorce unless previous spouse dies" church should I reject Kim Davis's 2, 3, and 4th marriage licenses???

Re: Culture Rot
Well,... this country was built on Judeo-Christian principles, not Islamic, so I throw out your point of the Muslim and wine. I think Jews kept swine because there was a story about a herd of demon possessed swine jumping into the sea and the towns people were upset about it. Doubt they were all just pets. I assume they were making profit off of them even if they weren't eating them personally. I don't know... And rhe "strict..." church has to make the best call they can based on their convictions.
There were already a lot of legal contracts available to them that they could use for most of the issues without smearing the name of marriage. I don't necessarily agree that the government should have been in the marriage license business in the first place, but such as things are, it is a war on the institution of marriage.
So the long and the short of it is that I disagree with you. She should stand up for her convictions, and keep her job, if those convictions are Judeo-Christian in origination and held as a cultural standard of such until recently.
Be careful when disqualifying individuals based on past mistakes. Should you dismiss the advice not to cheat on your wife if it comes from a convict, or even someone who cheated themselves? Truth is truth.

Re: Culture Rot
Our constitution says nothing of Jesus Christ but uses generic terms such as creator. Many of the founders like Jefferson handpicked parts of the bible he liked but rejected anything miraculous. Many were deist.
The point of the muslim or jew etc was to illustrate a point that if your religious beliefs conflict with hour job duties then find another job. To use a Judeo-Christian reference there are many protestant churches that reject any kind of alcohol. What if they refused to serve it? I don't know who the swin belonged to in the legion episode in the gospels. It was not uncommon for aliens or gentiles to sojourn among the Israelites. A gentile could have owned the herd.
I agree government should never got into marriage licensing. There have been churches who taught against interracial marriages but the supreme court overruled bans that forbidded blacks, whites, etc from marrying. Would it be cool if one of those church members denied a license to persons of different people groups?

Re: Culture Rot
I think it's a stretch to say that many of our founding fathers were deists just because one, or some were. We can quibble about minor "Biblical laws" that have always been debated between and within denominations, but until recently, it was universally accepted in godly (and ungodly) circles that homosexuality is wrong.
Using trivial debate topics as arguments for or against the acceptability of homosexual marriage brings this issue down to a trivial level. That's exactly what they want. This isn't trivial. It's at a whole different level, so really all those other examples are non admissible in a true debate.
Don't allow modern cultural views to water down serious debate topics to the trivial level. Next will be whether churches can even legally preach Jesus as the only way. It will become hate speach and outlawed by the government. Don't play into their plan....

Re: Culture Rot
In churches that reject marriage after divorce but before one of the div spouses dies makes no judgment calls. They deem the other marriages as adultery and you are just in a legal marriage not a true union where God put you together as one-flesh.
Whether I like it or not freedome to practice one's religion is not just for Jews and Christians.
