It is a nice Compass. Never saw a movement that worked as smooth as this one does. It stays right on it heading with out wobbling around. Since I do Orienteering and Compass quite often I thought awww...heck might as well have a nice one.

The cheaper versions work but it takes a few seconds to settle down every time you move it. This one even has a angle finder in it. Hold it pointing straight up and it gives you the angle via a arrow that moves when you tilt the compass left or right.

It was a splurge for sure. The other 10 styles I have are good for loaners.

Got a really neat Finland Made Suunoto compass with a Jewlers movement in the compass.  It was pricy 84.00 but wow that needle is precission. It doesn't bounce all over the place like the cheap ones do.  It has a declination .  .  Nice none of my compasses have ever had this.

Got 75 feet of webbing for rappelling.  A new climbing/rappelling harness.  Figure 8 was only 15.00 bucks so picked that up.  Purchased a  MSR pocket rocket and ssome Teniacious tape (really good tape that goes through many many many washings and stays put.)

Salomon 4G hiking boots.  My son loves his Salomon boots.  I have been wearing Scarpas for many years....so went with these pricy 230.00 wearing them to break them in.

I did run off with one of REI's loaner boot socks....opps.

Up here in KC getting some at&t refresher courses.   It's ok.  Don't much care for hotels.

When you said you bought an MSR pocket rocket I thought AR-15 pistol! MSR is another term for "assault weapons" means "modern sporting rifle".

REI know you by name and yell it like "Norm" (Cheers) when you walk in?

I know. Sometimes you guys say some things on here that I have no clue what your talking about. My son was talking about his AR and all the parts of it and I thought he was speaking a whole new language.

MSR is a major backpacking brand good stuff. Higher end stuff.

And on the heels of an announcement that Kaepernick will be going the free agent route next year, he's yanked in the 4th quarter today. That's after 4 passing yards and 5 sacks, against a pathetic team. He may not play again this year. Way to increase your value, man!
