Busiek Freeze if you please camp out 2015
Well we had a record low of -6 f. Record broke from 30 years ago. So it was time to get out and test that gear we all buy and don't ever want to use it.
Grin!
I'ts fun to get geared up with extreme cold camping to see if you had to cut it if you could. (MOST CANT CUT IT) so don't feel bad if your in the most group. Yet there is something to be said about a challenge and working to over come that challenge. Our challenge this weekend is 6" of snow on the ground. Freezing rain Friday night and rain on Saturday. 60% is what they are calling for.
With the extreme cold these few days leading up to the campout..it will require extra thought on insulating ourselves from the cold and fozen ground. Then the almost freezing rain will be another thing to over come. A great lesson on layers for sure.
When I told my crew room this morning that if anyone wanted to come camp with us this weekend they were welcomed to come. These hardend lineman that have to work outside in these temps no matter what said I was crazy. Grin! So the 9 or so that go out this weekend will be CRAZY with me.
Nice thing about this place is the vehicles are just a stones throw away and we are only 20 miles from the closest town. The highway is 1/4 mile away.
Picked up some extra hot chocolate and will get out the gear tonight to hunker down in.
Good memories that last for years and many laughs that will come from it. These type events are the best of the best of Ranger Campouts.
Take those boys outside.

Its not a matter of can do for most its matter of motivation to do it. For a job $ is the motivator.

Bring your head down a bit farther. Winter advisory for our area.
Freezing rain, Ice and rain with snow on the ground.
While your head is bowed. Take it from shame to a prayer for us NUTS out in the woods! Grin. I know if you was down here you would be right in here with us.
My gear is packed. My food is in the fridge. I have extra clothes and extra pad. Extra tarp. I am scared! Boo!
The guys I am going with are all experienced in staying dry. I have a couple I will have to watch out for. Make sure they stay dry.
I am sleeping in my backpack tent and the rest are in tents and or hammocks bu my truck in reserve has a foam bed in the shell and I will also bring the Mr
buddy just to put it to use.
Weather will warm up to 33.. and 40 on Saturday... but that cold rain is often worse than cold dry snow.
Pray for us. It's extreme camping..

Agreed on wet different than snow. Cold is fine. Cold and dry, not bad. It's that cold & wet that can hurt real quick

Re: Busiek Freeze if you please camp out 2015
We had 6 show for the Busiek Freeze if you Please Campout. Even with the 5" of snow and the winter weather advisory and the freezing ice and then rain until 10:00 am on Saturday it was still fun. Report and pictures and a short video at this link.

The devotion was on attitude. It fit perfectly.
