Richland Creek Backpack and over night Campout in December burrr!
In a couple of weeks on Dec 20th and 21st we get to go backpacking down to Richland Creek. We day hiked to this place last month and everyone wanted to backpack in and camp up above the twin falls this time.
We had a early winter so not sure what the temps will be. A few years back it got down below 20 and snow melt sure made those river crossings sting.
Getting the permission slip and stuff ready to post. You guys need to come on down to Arkansas and go with us.

We would enjoy the fellowship. This past week the phone has been buzzing around this Richland Creek trip. Looking forward to the challenges and get away.

We are up to about 15 on the list to go. This weekend. Low of 27, high of 44 and 10% chance of rain and 4mph wind. Perfect.

Ya. I agree. Yesterday morning I spent 3 hours up on a ladder in high cold wind finding a fault in a telephone cable out in the country. I count it has a blessing.
1. It makes me appreciate the warmth inside the truck.
2. It gives me good exercise and makes me stretch.
3. Pays way above most other work.
4. I get a kick out of knowning many folks can't hack it. GRIN!

These backpacking trips are a great opportunity to witness to others. All you have to say is were going backpacking this weekend and doing river crossings. They start asking questions.
Most shake their heads. A few want to come along. GRIN! They all get a witness of the Holy Ghost working in our lives.

We had a great time. Had 11 in the group. Older group but all in the family of Rangers. The river was up and those river crossings made it TRICKY!

That would be awesome. It's a little discomfort but the rewards are out of this world.
It's fun to over come these type of things. It reminds me of what Johnnie Barnes said about why camping.
This last trip we took. We had folk of all parts in society. Engineer, LPN, College Students, Web devleopers, unemployeed young and old. Camping puts them on the same level and they work together to get it done.
Good stuff.

This is a video of our first river crossing. About 5 minutes in is our first chance to shine in River rescues. He was fine and had a great time despite the dip in the ice cold river.
