Re: Culture Rot
joecool wrote:In one of my classes yesterday, we were talking about institutions. To help the kids visualize where things were going, I mentioned the institution of marriage. They were vaguely aware that it's been marginalized and then corrupted. Our free-love culture (and government) reduced the need for marriage...let the government be your daddy. And what's left of marriage has been gravely wounded by the judiciary, allowing homosexuals to marry.
In other countries, governments are recognizing 3-person marriages, self-marriage, and more. Polygamy will return to America within a generation. Mark my words. It's an easy prediction.
What is self marriage?

Do you get a double tax write-off? Is it considered gay marriage to marry yourself?
If You get that desperate do what 1/8 of the guys I see in Walmart do hookup with Filipino girl online she jump to American men.

Re: Culture Rot
Just watched God's Not Dead 2 , which dealt with the education system oppressing Christian teachers. It was well done, and expertly acted. I wanted to slap the liberal actors on the side of the head.
I've been teaching for the better part of 15 years in Christian schools. I know myself fairly well, and I know I couldn't survive in the public environment. My hat's off to our brothers and sisters who teach there.

You guys just wait. You too will one day need your kids to come over and program your tv to play a cassette tape, CD, DVD, BDR, Audio, Analog, Digital, HD and 4K...changing from one input to the out and crossing over..until you just settle for a tv antenna and a on switch for your tv with a channel selector switch you have to get up and change...and you will be OOOOOOO sooooo Happy!
My wife went over to her folks yesterday after church to get a VHS tape to place audio.... were living the dream!
Baby food jars in transit. While we enjoy our "Ensure" until you get on line with it. GRIN! O don't worry it's on it's way if our Lord tarries.

Streaming netflix will disappear as quickly as your antiquated optical disc players in the event Scat hits the fan.
Latest tech? I'm still running iPhone 5s.

Re: Culture Rot
Come on. With out this increase of knowledge we will never see the rapture.
I will enjoy the day when I can sit at home plunk away on a computer and send out a attsybott to go out and figure out where the trouble is and fix it. People today have no idea that it takes a man (in most cases) with a brain and a hard work ethic to find and fix this stuff. They think it's all virtual. Done already seems to be the word of the day. NOPE just now got the test equipment from failing on boot up. 2 times already today on 2 pieces of equipment...were not there yet. GRIN!

Only problem is you won't likely own tbe bot. The company will own it and you'll be out of a job. Likely in your case you'll be retired or passed on before it's totally over.

Re: Culture Rot
No. According to our tech forecasters in 1990... in 2012 all communications will run over fiber optics to all the houses. (it seems like a good idea). In reality the cost of running new fiber optic cables to every place in the US was so cost prohibitive that they nixed that idea. Only places they do that is where the competition is trying to hedge in and they beat them to it. Rest of the places where there is no competition...some day. New technology on cooper cables is still cheaper and enough.
Insurance liability alone will slow most technology down to a screech.
I deal with technology every day. It takes a huge investment of time to keep it running. Between human error and cold and hot weather there are another 1000 things that pick it into a service tech world.
They may very well come up with a vehicle that can run 90 out of 100 times with out human intervention...but there will come a time when it has to have someone correct it. BIG DATA is all knowing and ALL STUPID! Change one little part of a big data tally and it will fall flat on it's face. I deal with the big data thing at work every day. We laugh at these fruit cakes idea of "knowing when a truck will break down" they will spend a boat load of money to show it works...in reality all it does is waste resources. It's not broke don't fix it. Yet they will show up and put a new battery in your truck because the computer told them to...huh? What? You kidding me? Then they will produce a video telling us of all the cool things like this they have saved money on... Big DATA us the answer. What? Are you kidding me?
They can't even tell reliably when a vehicle's battery will die. All it does is 2 things. Provide power and recharge. Drill batteries are the same way. I have had them last for years and had them die in just over a year.

About the time I entered the Navy, they introduced the Planned Maintenance System. Every single piece of equipment was on a schedule to get taken apart, parts replaced, and put back into service. After a couple of years of everything wearing out prematurely, they throttled way back on the scheduling.

Next month at church, I start leading a small group titled Wo/Man Up! It's to give parents and grandparents the tools they need to help their teenagers keep their faith.
Anywhere between 60-80% of church-raised young people walk away when they move out on their own. Gotta stop that!

I think that a great part of it (not all, because Culture is a strong factor, also) is the feeling of Immortality in young people, along with excess, unfocused testosterone and progesterone.
When I left the home, I was a "Little c" christian. I went to church on Christmas and Easter.
Except................. in Vietnam, when the Chaplain was hosting Church Services right before we were to get on the helicopters to go out into the jungle. Then, I went to church all that I could.
(Maybe, less testosterone and more mortality present, then.)

AG teaches that if we don't reach them before age 12, keeping them will be very very hard.
We have lost our way in believing God. We trust our own methods and means.

Do you mean "estrogen"? Progesterone is released in women during pregnancy.
