Camporam 2022 less than a week away!
Soon many folks from around the country will be making their way to Eagle Rock Retreat Center for the Royal Rangers National Camporama.
We will have some 2200 to 2400 folk attending at this event. 6 years ago we had 7000 attending. Between the high prices, covid, fuel prices and so many things to focus on the camping part of Royal Rangers seems to be heading in a less attended direction. Sad to say of course. However 10 years ago we looked at the changes in our program and said to each other at the outpost levels. Folk this is where we are heading.
I am sad to say in my own Outpost I am the only one attending and we are only 87 miles from Eagle Rock. I will say the 6 days of HEAT are now looming in my mind. HOT, HOT, HOT! At the age of 63 that HOT sounds like HOT to me. Yet I will deny self and put the AC on hold for a week. (Just think in most countries ...AC is a pipe dream)
What brings me around. Knowing the faces and names of fellow Royal Ranger Leaders and boys that will be there from our So. MO District Ready for Anything. We didn't come for comfort. We didn't come for state of the art technology. We didn't come for the best food money can buy. We came for Royal Ranger Christian Fellowship Out of doors roughing it to spend time with our Fellow man in the Name of Jesus. My 5th Camporama. Wow It's a good thing to rub shoulders with men and young men of like mind that are sold out to Jesus and one of His Ministries of Royal Rangers.
It's been a very busy year for our District Royal Rangers. We have accomplished a lot. In the next few weeks we will also have a JLDA camp, Cardboard Boat Regatta and a Day Camp for the younger boys and families just before school starts. Last week we had 16 on a Canoeing Action Camp and a Adventure Kamp with 3 days down on the river and temps were forecasted the last day at 102 degrees.
Thinking about it now. I would rather be HOT and dripping with sweat working for Jesus. Camporama...BRING IT ON!!!!
