Read a couple of articles this morning about "pastors" who plan to drive their pregnant members to states with no abortion limits. It reminded me of a thought I had when the Roe v Wade decision was first announced. "I wonder how many pro-abortion ministers will moan from the pulpit on the next Sunday morning?" I would think that it's hard enough for a minister to be sure that his planned message for any Sunday is in God's will. How does a minister think abortion is?

Big rainstorm yesterday, which included hail. Downtown got a 1-foot flash flood, which is the first time I've heard of one anywhere in this area. That'll keep things green for awhile.

Our downtown is part of Last Chance Gulch, the site of a big gold strike back in the 1860s. Below the city is an ancient alluvial plain, where miners also used big floating dredges. Even today, huge nuggets can be found with metal detectors.

Well, you know, there is no shortage of "ministers" who will tell folks what their itching ears want to hear.

Warm and very dry here. Grass is all yellow & crunchy, it looks more like mid August than 1st week of July.

Talked to Dan Bennet & Mark Jones on the phone Friday. Had a nice chat with both.

It almost feels like we should have an in-person "reunion" some time. Those who still have an outpost can help the rest of us drown our sorrows with an ice-cold root beer.

I was at the Army base today, which has a lot of Reservists and National Guardsmen, to get a new ID card. I asked the corporal about the deadline for them to get the Chinese flu shot. An E-8 came around the partition to give me a little inside info on Biden's pressure campaign. "If they come to drill, they don't get paid. If they don't come to drill, they get charged with being AWOL."

Grrr!

Feeling like Job, Jr. In the last few weeks, I've moved my elderly mother in with us, lost my twin brother, am fixing up the house for his wife to sell, I'm trying to resurrect the church's sprinkler system, and broke a tooth this morning. Hope you guys are doing better. It reminds me of Claymore's immortal words, "It's just your turn."

Yesterday, a real estate agent stopped by to take pictures and found too much damage in the cottage rental to list my sister-in-law's property for sale. I had to come by and evict the tenant. It went better than I expected and I was moved to offer a prayer, which he accepted.

Well, we're semi-officially in an economic recession. Two straight quarters of negative growth, but the administration and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) are busily waving their arms to distract us and saying that the economy is great.

Two-thirds of Americans are living payday-to-payday. Inflation is running at 9.1%, a high for 40+ years, even after being redefined/lowered by the administration. I do most of the grocery shopping in my family, so I grit my teeth at the checkout stand. We've all seen packaging get smaller in an attempt to make us think the prices aren't climbing too fast, but we know better. In fact, we just had BLTs tonight. The bacon package was 25% lighter and 3 slices shorter, yet was the same price.

How many days until Nov 8th? Yet, not much will change then, or even in 2024. Things are going to get worse. The bottom isn't even in sight yet. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. Follow His words. Follow His prompting.
