10 Ways To A Stronger Church Empty 10 Ways To A Stronger Church

Post by joecool December 24th 2020, 9:53 am

I lead a men's group that meets every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. We're the grey-beards, with one of us 50 years old and the rest 60+. Our purpose has been to discuss current events in the light of Scripture. It's been good for the last year, but it's also been tough getting them to the point where they can see themselves as a think-tank, using their knowledge and past experiences to help today's church.

A consistent theme of late has to do with the tepid involvement of men younger than ourselves. We need to build them up so that they're ready to take over from us. You might recall a recent thread on RChat that asks how to prepare tomorrow's deacons. While this is all about toughening up individuals for the rough days/years that are coming, it came to me that the real goal is to toughen up the church.

So I'm going to begin a meeting series titled "10 Ways To A Stronger Church." There's an enormous chalk board in our foyer that currently has a design on it. I'm going to ask the pastor if our group can develop a "chalk talk" on it that members will see grow over time. It will contain "sight bites" on these 10 ways:

Stay Hebrews 10:25
Sweet Spirit Hebrews 10:24
Stewardship 2 Corinthians 9:6
Separation 2 Corinthians 6:17
Stick with Scriptures Hebrews 4:12
Sold Out Luke 9:62
Soul-Winning Luke 19:10
Spiritual 2 Timothy 2:21
Sensitive Galatians 6:10
Stand 2 Timothy 4:7

These come from a pastor who shared them 30 years ago with his own church. They're still relevant. It will work if we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Good idea Thumbs up

A lot of churches are going to be in big trouble in years to come if they can do something to reach the younger generation. (Our church included)
