February 2019 Empty February 2019

The Democrat party leaders are tripping over each other, trying to out-liberal the others. New York's Catholic governor started the ball rolling with their new law codifying infanticide. Virginia's governor (who also has serious racial issues) wanted to do the same, until the state Republicans voted it down. And now comes word that Rhode Island's Catholic governor wants the same law for her state.

I'm borrowing an awesome line I read today....... "What we have here is a failure to ex-communicate."

Come on, Catholic Church. Do it!

Problem is new rcc pope is Jesuit and seems as liberal and progressive as they come. I doubt anyone is getting tossed out.

The Catholic Church, essentially (for good or bad), gave up any claim to holding American politicians morally accountable with the Presidential Campaign of John F Kennedy, in 1960.

There were Protestant Preachers and Politicians who were telling the Nation that, if Kennedy was to be elected, then the United States would be subservient to the Pope - essentially Caesaropapism - the combining. of the religious head with the head of State.

Of course, the Kennedy Family was about the WORST example of projecting the proclaimed values of the Catholic Church (JFK was a serial philanderer, Jackie used birth control in defiance to Church Doctrine, Papa Joe made his fortune by running illegal whiskey in his boats, down the East Coast from Canada during Prohibition, and Bobby wasn't content with the 11 children that Ethel gave him; he continued to run around with female campaign volunteers - eventually drowning one in his car).

Ever since then, the mantra of Catholic Politicians has been, "Well, personally, I am opposed to (name your sin), but professionally, I must represent the best interests of my constituents.

While, all the time, the Church Leadership sit on their hands (except for Timothy Dolan - but then, he is from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin).

It seems that Politicians who come from non-practicing Jewish families are about the most abhorrent, while those from non-practicing Catholic families come in a close second. Maybe the duration of the religion's lineage has something to do with it?

Multiple below zero days with snow. Glad I don't have to work outside for a living. Nice to share a quad w/plow with my son down the road. Takes the heart-attack out of snow removal.

If you say so. Reminds me of the spring retreat I took high school boys on a few years back. Had to change a couple of things on the schedule. For example, the volleyball court was still under 3 feet of snow.
