February 2017 Thread
The 2016-2017 Mississippi Gun-Deer Season is now finished. Skunked, again.
(However, in all honesty, I was only able to get out for a few days this year.)

Re: February 2017 Thread
Did you get any of the Rangers to go with you? Hunting is a neat activity for the boys to enjoy. I wished my wife was in favor of me killing animals for food. She maintains a firm smerk with a hand on her hip saying something like " That is what they make grocery stores for" while were eating Tri tips..., ribs...hambergers....?????? It's her or the deer meat... I will just have to keep her and the grocery store first on my list of suppliers. HA!

How does super walleymark and tarjay make us morally superior. If anything its like a killer saying I am better because I hired a hitman to do my dirty work. No offense she is your wife but that would get a blank stare and a head shake

Good question!
Actually, most-all of the boys have areas that their families hunt on. Either they live in the Country, or if they live in town, they have an aunt or uncle who has woods.
Many of my boys "skunked" me this year, and they sent me photographs to prove it.
However,
What I DO have that's unique is a 100 yard rifle range with target frames & a backstop and a Trap Clay-Bird Thrower. So they do get some special shooting experiences here.
Also, I HAVE taken a Quarter of Venison and a Cutting Board to Rangers in the past. We worked on Knife Sharpening and Slicing & Spicing Meat for Jerky.
I had a couple of the "hard-headed" boys say that they didn't want to participate in slicing Jerky. I said, "If you don't SLICE Jerky this week, you don't EAT Jerky next week."
They cut jerky.

Re: February 2017 Thread
Yesterday, I scored a deal on a brand new condition never used Alien Gear cloak tuck 3.0 hybrid iwb holster for $35. Since Fb went totally anti 2nd amendment groups dedicated to "puppies" and what not have sprouted up to "showcase" our firearms. It came with a shield 9mm shell case. I plan to swap that for free with Alien Gear for a Beretta px4 storm shell. I put one on layaway now I'll have a holster for it.

Anyone need some snow? I got about 2 ft of so let me know and I will send your way.
We have never seen this much snow bebefore. Had to Cancel rangers on tuesday. School was canceled Tuesday and today. I was lucky to get to work today. My father in law is really regretting selling his snow blower now.

Actually, yes.
By this time of year, we normally get about 2 or 3 inches, and it hangs around for a couple of days.
This year..........................
...........................................................not a snowflake.

Re: February 2017 Thread
We had some flurries already. It even started to stick fairly well... but then it all melted. Of course, not before my second son tried to slide down the yard and skinned up his side on the rough ground. I guess when you're 12, you think you can slide nicely on a 1/4" layer of snow...

He probably doesn't see it often so got excited.

Re: February 2017 Thread
Oh that's exactly what it is, but it's funny any which way you look at it!
As much as I lIke warm weather, I would like to have had a little more snow. For us it's such a novelty. Of course everything shuts down at the first flurry. I guess that's part of the fun too. It's almost like a forced relaxation day around here once it starts sticking to the roads.

Re: February 2017 Thread
After a perfect 10 days of watching the grandkids while their parents vacationed down south, we put the 2 girls on a church bus for teen winter camp this afternoon. One of them promptly slipped on wet steps and broke a bone in her wrist.
Yesterday I ran over to one of their preschool businesses to stop a (melting snow) flooding problem. After 2 hours I dragged myself back to the kids' house and looked at the sheet of ice that was their relatively steep driveway. I elected to park up on top and walk down. I could see a long sliver of exposed dirt, but the first step turned out to be black ice. I've never hit my head that hard before. 24 hours later, I still have a slight headache, whiplash and a sore back. (where's a non-smiley banged-up emoticon?)

Re: February 2017 Thread
Dang! I feel for you brother. You're a good man, trying to help everyone out and going THROUGH IT.
I hope you get to feeling better. Do you have a good chiropractor? I'd fly you to mine if I could afford it. He's the best I've ever been to. I've had to go to a couple different chiropractors through the years when he was out of town and I needed adjusting. Let's just say that I can see why a lot of people don't like them after going to the other guys. I'm not saying mine is the only good one out there, but he's GOOD!
Anyway, hope you mend quickly. Praying for you.

Just came across this today. In selected theaters nationwide on Thursday, "Is Genesis History?" will be shown. It's hosted by Del Tackett, of The Truth Project fame. Great trailer on YouTube if you want to know more.

This has been one of the weirdest winters in a long time.
Friday afternoon I was driving around Detroit, listening to a Detroit Tigers game on the radio, in a thunderstorm, in February

So, for 8 years GW Bush kept his mouth shut, never criticizing anything Obama did. He sat down this weekend for an interview and dumped all over Trump.
And one of his daughters was the keynote speaker at a Planned Parenthood event.

Re: February 2017 Thread
Weather wise it's been 90 years since we had weather like this. In our short lived lives as a vapor we don't get much experience in the nature of the fallen earth.
Personally... I have so much enjoyed this winter. I am thinking of moving north to find some snow....GRIN! NOT! Might come up there for Winter Survival merit. Other wise...Iam enjoying this EARLY Spring.

Yup!
I normally go out to cut the Next Year's firewood after the end of Deer Season (January 31), but this year it has been so warm that I haven't been as motivated as I should be.
I've got a few loads cut; maybe about 1/3 of what I should have split and drying. I need to get down there, before the bugs and snakes take over the woods (and wood-piles).

I found Bush to be in error on this. I told my wife if the News Stations are publishing lies I wouldn't want them in the white house either. However ...freedom of speech is paramount and we need to let those that need to speak their minds speak...yet give us a break. If it's a lie it's a lie.
I got a kick out of one of the Lefts anchor groups talking that "They tell the American people what they should believe" GRIN! I thought not me you don't. Click.
