... then the slow decent back to that horrible time of year called winter. I like the heat. As normal, we still haven't turned the AC on at the house yet. Been getting up into the low 90's during the day and low to mid 70's at night. 10:15pm right now and my thermometer reads 81°F inside the house. A little warm when you lay down, but not terrible. By around 12-1 it starts feeling cooler inside and I'll pull a sheet on.
It's funny because we've become acclimated to living in a warmer setting than most everyone else, so when we visit someone else's house, it feels like it's freezing inside to us. And when people come to our house they act like they might die of heat stroke!

Re: June Thread
I am ready. Loaded the Kayaks tonight. Did paperwork and registration, campsite layout, duty roster, check off list and name badge labels for each mornings Roll call.
Our number 34 is just under half of what we did last year. Only one boy over the age of 12. My AR and ER boys are holding out for Camporama. I would rather they attend Pow Wow and try and make Camporama.
This years Pow Wow planning was pretty much only one 1 hour meeting. I have heard it and always said when we fail to plan we plan to fail. 50% reduction is the wrong direction. Will still have a great time and I am sure some of the other outposts will enjoy the chance at the top trophies. (We don't have room for any more anyway...GRIN)

FANtastic!
So have you come up with any plans. (I know that, when you DON'T have the money, you can think of a thousand things that you need.)

Re: June Thread
At this point we are going to break for the summer in 2 weeks. We are planning a merit day for the DR/AR and then a fun day for the RK's.
We will have some time to think about how we are to use the money. the DR/AR group have expressed interest in wearing utility shirts so it would help out in that purchase. I am hoping that we can earmark some if it for taking a bunch of them down to Ranger camp in Washington next summer. I will have doubled my DR group with the boys coming up from RK this September.

Re: June Thread
"Can you hear me now?" Cell phone service out here can be spotty due to the topography. Saturday night I received a text message from my son stating that his truck was stuck in the mountains. I was vaguely familiar with the area, but it was 80 miles away and sunset was approaching. I called the sheriff's office.
Two hours later, in the dark, I rendezvoused with a deputy. He then led my wife and I 21 miles into the mountains and we found them. You never saw happier grandchildren. We drove home that night, 8 people and 2 dogs in my truck, arriving at 1:30 am. Later that morning, my son and I went back up there, leading a tow truck. Fortunately, his insurance covered it.

Re: June Thread
Hey, CanadaRanger, what's up with some of your politicians trying to make "O Candada" gender-neutral? Will they be successful?
I can see our own liberals trying to change our national anthem, as well. Too violent for them. In fact, this past week a politician was trying to stop the Blue Angels from "strafing" his city. Liberals are Idiots Without Borders. (No copyright-feel free to use it.) Chris, can we get a "face palm" emoticon?

Re: June Thread
We are full of liberal idiots. That is why they are going to legalize dr assisted death, why men can marry men, and weed will be legalized. I personally don't think they should change the national anthem at all. There is one line in it that "in all they son's command" and they want to change it to "in all of us command". It's not the first time the Member of Parliament has tried this change. It was defeated the first time but because the same member is dying they are using his situation and his illness to push it through.
Reading the article in wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Canada) I learned something. The original french version and the common English version are very different. I find it ironic that it was written and used in Quebec before it was used in Canada.

Re: June Thread
You need to secede and join the folks from Northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula in forming the Nation-State of "Superior".

That will be an odd-looking nation. Where CanadaRanger lives, they will have to buy a thin strip of land from a couple of other provinces to connect him with Superior.

Nooooo! Hawaii has Gun Control like Canada.
"Superior" will be a B.Y.O.B. (bring your own belt of ammo) Nation/State.

Re: June Thread
Been busy Ubering the past week. Thurs during game 6 of the NBA championship I did 3 rides and got 1 cancellation fee and made $190 after Uber's cut. One request was uber select for luxury line cars at a 2.4x surge. Select is normally 3x's regular uberx rate. With the surge rate of 2.4x it was equal to uberx at 7.2x surge! That one fair netted $147 by itself.
Worked Sun after church 10 hrs during game 7 and made $320 for total $510 for that week. Luckily the parade was today for Cavs on my off day so I made $304 which included two $5 cash tips. All in all thanks to the Cavs victories I netted $814. Ultimately my increase was Sola Gratia and Soli Deo Gloria for sure.
