I'm familiar with the show but is it based on something real? Does Five-OH only apply to Hawaii cops?
It's just Drug Subculture Vernacular.

Re: April Thread
I was blessed to be able to see John MacArthur live in person at a local church 25 mins away. Though I would say it was worth an hours drive. He spoke on Luke 15 the three parables including the Prodigal Son. Quite enlightening to learn about each part of that parable how it relates to old Jewish culture. How the point is about Grace vs the legalism of restoration by works that Pharisees loved. Never gave the abrupt ending any thought. Why does Jesus not tell us what the older bro does after the father (which represents Jesus) confronts him about not partaking of the feast. MacArthur said the Pharisees told us the ending months later when they took a piece wood and crucified their father (messiah).
I was given one of John's commentaries and he signed it with passage
2 Corinthians 4:5-7 KJV
[5] For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. [6] For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [7] But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

My son sent me a picture of his new (used) 2014 car in Wisconsin. I said, "What's that White Stuff on the Ground? You in a Cotton Field?".

On Tuesday, I was enjoying a nice BBQ in 70-degree sunshine.
On Wednesday, it rained hard all day.
Three inches and still coming down.

Hard hike with church friends today. The ravine bottom trail was fouled with hundreds of downed trees. Eventually we gave up and went straight up to the ridge where the going was easier. Blue skies and sunnier disposition.

Read an interesting article on porn and how it physically alters the brain. With the development of technology in phones and tablets, porn is easier than ever for men and boys to access. Sometimes "because the Bible says so" isn't enough for some people to change their ways. Obviously man needs the power of the Holy Spirit for true change, but having some additional knowledge about the affects of an action or substance can help at times.

Hey Chris!
Since you're from Michigan, I have one simple question:
Are you a "Yooper"?
or
Are you a "Troll"?

Un-retiring yet again. My old school gave me 4 morning classes next Fall. I need to nail down a couple of questions next week, but I have every intention of finishing everything on my to-do list before the first day of school. If I don't, I won't have much of a life afterwards.

Re: April Thread
I go through the textbook and highlight all the important stuff. I then develop digital teaching notes (with related pictures and cartoons) that the kids watch while listening to me. They have identical notes with lots of blanks that they fill in as I go along. Then, instead of studying 50 pages from the textbook, their test prep is only with the notes. Takes all the stress out of it. I also prepare Jeopardy games for test prep. They compete in teams, and the better they do, the more extra credit points that apply to the next day's test. This is the biggest thing on my (3-page) to-do list, and it's for each subject I teach.
It's hundreds of hours of work, but it pays off big time in student performance. And for the next year(s), I only have a few hours' work to get ready. The physical classroom itself is "70's-boring", so I've got a lot of things in mind for that as well.

Here is another interesting website with lots of great info and tools to get the truth about porn into the church. Some of the stats are mind blowing relating to porn use and the church.

Re: April Thread
Looks like a good resource. I'm genuinely worried about the kids growing up today and how much easier it is for them to access it than it was for even my generation, which wasn't that long ago. Every kid seems to have a smart phone, tablet, or laptop. It also seems to be the taboo sin that everyone is thinking about, but nobody wants to talk about.
Aside from even the porn, computers in general seem to be changing the way kids think and act vs kids previously. They're more lethargic and think in virtual terms rather than reality. My wife and I work hard to keep our children involved in "real life" activities, but so many parents either don't see the need, or can't afford it whether because of time or money. It's easier and cheaper to let the kid plop down in front of a device and get wrapped up in a video game or watching YouTube videos.

That's odd. We're just now starting to get into the upper 80's to low 90's... Fahrenheit of course.

It's also dry in parts of northeastern BC. the Wildfire situation is already crazy. 37 new fires in one day, good thing it is sparely populated.

Re: April Thread
Decided a couple weeks ago to go in a different direction with Phillip Jr's racing. We are getting busy enough with the business that I can think about getting him back on track, but I'm tired of constantly having to turn wrenches on the two strokes to keep them running properly. I was texting a guy I know back and forth just chit chatting about racing and such, and mentioned that I was selling all of Jr's bikes so that I could move in a different direction. Within a few minutes he ended up calling me and said they were interested in buying one of the bikes! That'll put a few grand in the account to get us rolling towards the new bike. Looks like I might be taking a road trip to Atlanta tomorrow afternoon to meet them halfway and make a deal.
Since Jr is now physically big enough to straddle a Ninja 250, we're going with it. It'll be so nice just to add gas and go instead of tinkering all weekend to keep it in tune! Two strokes are finicky. They're like the proverbial thoroughbred race horse. They run like a bat out of hell when they're running right, but like a sick mule when they're not. There's enough stress related with a race weekend without having to add insult to injury with a bike not running well.

Re: April Thread
cool this week
Glad I had Wednesday off this week, because I still got 50 hours in 4 days.
On Wednesday I got our new lawn tractor (not "new" new) working. It ran fine, but the blades turned very slowly.
I put a new belt on the mower deck & it works great now. Which is good because the grass was getting pretty tall.
the old belt (89")was so stretched out it measured 90.5"

With everybody out of town, what a busy week! Taking care of 4 grandkids and their events, 6 pets, a business, 2 houses, high-maintenance mother, homeschool and youth center. My union says I get two 15 minute breaks a day, but I never seem to get around to it.
