Car Camping Tents
Looking at the Standing Room 100 for car camping trips. It uses a 10x10 pop up canopy as the frame and rain fly. You can even attach a couple together if you wanted to. I'm thinking I may get a 10x20 pop up canopy and set this tent up under one 10x10 section, leaving a spacious front porch.
Probably be what I take to Camporama. Home away from home.

And then I might have to get this Double Cot with a nice air mattress so that I stay comfortable! Complete with Egyptian cotton sheets and feather pillow, of course!

Re: Car Camping Tents
One of my commanders has a half dozen vintage Range Rovers in various stages of restoration. His best one has a rooftop tent that folds out, and includes an insect-free screened area that reaches the ground.
He drove it to last year's district camp and got lots of visits. On the way home, wiring in the engine compartment caught fire, but he got to it in time. Some of his Rover club buddies bailed him out later in the day.

I like the old Rovers, Jeeps, and Internationals. Would love to have one again (used to have a '79 Scout II) for taking on mountain camping trips.

Re: Car Camping Tents
'Most-all of the Airborne Units that I was in were much smaller than the 82nd (a full Division).
Being in a great-big unit like that invites "To Whom It May Concern" weapons. (Especially in My Day, when we were facing-off against the Soviet Union in the Reagan Era.)

The greatest insults to good Infantry are Artillery and Nuclear Weapons.

Re: Car Camping Tents
It was believed that, if there was a Special Forces Team in the area, the Soviet Order of Battle called to divert an entire Division, use it to encircle the entire Operating Area, and then close in the circle to destroy the Team.
10,000 to 12,000 Motorized Rifle Troops to get 12 Americans. Now that is Personal Attention!
I'm flattered.

Re: Car Camping Tents
So my battle plan is to feed disinfo to my enemy and they divert mass resources to cover a false threat. Then I strike where I desire.

That's why, even though the sailors were eating cooked food and sleeping in dry bunks while I was in the jungle pulling leeches out of my femoral veins, I knew that there was no hiding on that ship, if anyone ever sent a nuclear-tipped anti-ship missile their way.
That could change the course of your week-end.
