Last week...
A Original Ranger went home to glory..
My drear Commander Hank Cole~
*Perhaps this is what being "Called Out" is all about.
One by one we go meet the Master Ranger face to face..
Deep in my heart abides the Ranger Code.. burned in deep by childhood pledge. Johnnie Barns and Hank... along with many leave camp with a kind invitation-
*Walk this way with Christ-

Amen! That's the way I want to go. Walk this way with Christ. That's it.

*Forgive me if I push the wrong button..
As a young Pioneer I memorized the 23rd Psalm and
the part where we walk through the valley of the shadow of death scared me..
I knew nothing of DEATH
*Later we as a Ranger outpost hiked the John Muir trail out of Yosemite valley.. Up we went into the high Sierra along cliffs and large waterfalls. Sure death would come if we were swept away in the current of the river over moss slippery rocks.
Commander Hank said "Boys.. stay on the trail and you'll be right"
Above those deadly falls we swam and played in the warm sunshine and fished for dinner in the river...
I was on a adventure..
*I now think the trail we walk is guided by these loved men who told us truth. *Stay on the trail..
there is no shortcuts.. When steep- push on..
camp is no more than a mile or so..
There we can rest...
No Valley we walk should scare us from pushing on..
The trail and my strong legs give comfort.. We have
Chili and hotdogs at camp ahead- *No Fear..
We abide in peace with friends, secure in our faith
and ready for anything!

The Heart of an "Original" Ranger.
It's awfully, awfully nice to hear. Kind-of like I believe that our Nation is still reaping the benefits of being founded on Christian Principles, even though many who are receiving the rewards today have abandoned those Principles.
Those "Old" Founding Principles of Royal Rangers still ring true.

Re: Wilderness walk.. *Howdy in the camp!
Times change and water flows under the bridge...
*I discovered at a young age.. My stride and backpack provide comfort, and the combined load of the Outpost fairly split, is my invitation to a wilderness dinner.
I joined something, ..and something was required of me. I dreamed of what adventure would be, and the experience required me to push, to exert effort to stay at pace. When we made camp...*I had duties as well as membership in something bigger than what I could do on my own.
Something about that sunk in to a 12 year old. The little aluminum cup in my sixties mess kit got hot when I held the cocoa... *So I held it in my hat.. and later brought a plastic mug on the next camp.
*Learn-*Adapt-*Overcome
