AR-15 Accessories and Parts Recommendations
I'm looking at adding a vertical foregrip to my AR. I have seen angled grips, vertical grips, and vertical grip with flashlight integrated.
Anyone recommend adding a forend grip or light of any kind? Anyone have a preference?

Re: AR-15 Accessories and Parts Recommendations
For inside the house, a vertical grip with an integral light may be handy. Vertical grips only really started getting popular with the military when light battle rifles started filling a "submachinegun" roll (clearing houses).
Unless you have a Really-Really solid mounting system, a laser would probably be best mounted to a piece of rail directly on the upper receiver or barrel, and not in the vertical grip. Reason being that any sizable amount of torque on the vertical grip may significantly alter the point-of-aim of the laser.
If it is mounted to the metal tubular handguard that is screwed on, a laser grip might work. If you're attempting to adapt it to the plastic handguards, fuggiddaboudit.
One word of caution. Know the laws of your state, if you are going to take it out hunting (even varmint hunting). Some states severely prohibit any lights or "devices which emit a beam" from being mounted on a rifle or bow.
Last year, I was on my deer stand, unscrewing the light from the rail of my 6.8 SPC. I didn't see anything in Mississippi law that said that I couldn't have it, but I figured that it was "one less thing" that I would have to explain, if a Game Warden came along.

The grip I saw had both integrated. How far up or down the pic rail would you mount the grip? I was thinking nearer to the gas block so the light would shine more on target than on the barrel itself.

You'd have to play with it. I would start with whatever is most comfortable, then adjust from there.
Remember, you're going to spend a lot more time holding it than using the light.

Its a scope mount with a reticle that you attach a smartphone. Is anyone familiar with this type of scope and what is your thoughts on it?

Re: AR-15 Accessories and Parts Recommendations
Very cute.
However, it puts too much "stuff" in front of your face.
Unless it seriously added to aiming capability (like night vision), I would pass.

There is an external case for iPhone 5/s called a FLir. IR is infrared would let you see heat signatures. Potential spotting tool for night hunting or checking out people for conceale weapons.
