Re: New National comander.
This reminds me of TracClub. I love the electronic delivery method. I look forward to them delivering more than just pdf. PPt, Videos, etc. I don't even have a problem with a paid access.Mark Jones wrote:
I can see the reasons behind stuff..just needs to stay real ministry and not a cash cow for corporate. I don't mind them making a living...just not at the expense of the ministry God has called me to do.

However I do feel they are a little proud of their access and feel costs could be trimmed a bit more for what they offer.

Re: New National comander.
We were building an outpost just as Tracclub was being developed. We dropped about $160.00 for the merit manuals less than 6 months before they were declared obsolete.
Never once, did we get a warning (or any note in the GPS Catalog) saying, "Hey, these are going to be obsolete soon. You might want to reconsider your purchase...."
Instead, I think that the description in the catalog read,
"This will be your boys' best friend fro the next 4 years...."

Re: New National comander.
I would say most of the skill merits are essentially scanned from your merit reference books. The new merits released such as core 3 and leadership merits are about the only additional material not found in the books.
Does a used car salesman tell you to wait for next year's model thats going to have a cool new features? No, he wants to sell you something now and figures you'll trade her back in a few years for the newer model. At the time a printed catalog is made and mailed they don't know what is going to change in a few months or coming year.

So the "Used Car Salesman's Code of Ethics" should be the standard for Royal Rangers & Leaders now?
(I guess that I'm going to have to replace that Poster in the Ranger-Room about "Alert, Clean, Honest,...." with the new Standards.)
[Oh well. On the Bright Side, there will be a whole lot less demerits given out at the meetings for violating the Ranger Code.]
[Maybe, we'll change the Dress Uniform to Plaid Sports Jackets.]

Ha. Let's hope and pray that the new director has a love for the outdoors and loves to hunt, camp and work with boys. It will grow if he does.
I don't mind paying for updates as folks need to make a living.
Just keep it real and keep it bible based.

Re: New National comander.
Just looked at the national RR website. They have a "press release" blurb announcing the leadership change. Unfortunately, it looks like everything else is still the same..."servant leadership...empower..."
Whatever happened with that gathering of the big wigs that was supposed to happen in July? Anything leak out of that, Mark?

GRIN! We are optimistic aren't you! Unless George Wood takes a retirement we most likely won't see any change in the direction. George is sold out to Rick Warren and that is why he liked Doug Marsh so much as Doug parroted Rick Warren, Collons, Maxwel.
It will take a real move of God to shake the tree and drop the squirrels out so the fruit can grow.
Just incase there is any doubt. When I see Rick Warren theology I see a "non spirit filled person calling the shots" with out God's Spirit leading and guiding by His Infilling..the best we can hope for is man's ideas and solutions. Man solutions versus God's solutions...big difference in success and blessings. Everytime I see man (SELF) get in the middle of something it get's messed up quickly.
Let's hope and pray for a Man of God that loves Camping, Outdoors, Hunting and very importantly that enjoys working with boys. If we can get close to that we can get in behind him and grow this ministry of Royal Rangers.
At our Community outreach Rangermobile race yesterday. The boyscouts had a table setup recruiting for membership. They had some materials there. Boys life mini magazine..it was packed full of cools stuff that they can do. It sadly reminded me of my last copy of Rangers Now. It was promoting over priced waterless handcleaner.... Dear Lord shake that tree fast..the nuts our falling out of the squirrels mouths. GRIN!

Re: New National comander.
This weekend we had our FCF FAll Trace 2 night campout. Had a great time and enjoyed it.
I was talking to one of the National Staff about our new National Director. Said he is a avid outdoorsman. Said while he wasn't on RR staff in his District he still attended events and taught at some of the JLTA classes. I was told I will like this new guy.
I asked. Does he like to work with boys? Does he like to camp? A resounding YES came out and that leaves me hopeful.
Praise God. I feel hopeful! It's been a long time since I felt that way of National Staff almost 8 years I have had my thumbs down. I am getting excited about thumbs going up! Woo Whoo Rangers!

Message from our New National Commander
September 2014
I’m coming into this position at a great time. Royal Rangers has seen many changes over the last several years, and as a result, we are better equipped, more relevant, and poised for our greatest days. Our last Camporama in 2012 was the largest ever. New outposts are being chartered every month, and churches that haven’t had Rangers in a while are coming back. Just a month and a half ago, the largest Rendezvous ever was held at Camp Eagle Rock! Director Marsh and the national team have done a tremendous job; we owe them a huge debt of gratitude.
It’s because of their hard work we get to do the fun stuff! As I continue to get settled into the position, I feel our focus needs be on stability and growth! We have had many necessary changes and improvements in recent years. We now need to provide additional assistance to outposts in understanding and implementing them to ensure everyone in Rangers experiences the benefits they bring. Secondly, we will focus on growth. As mentioned above, we are already experiencing the benefits of the last few years. As others continue to embrace and understand the Rangers ministry, we will continue to see even more!
I loved the theme of the last Assemblies of God General Council, “Believe.” This year the Assemblies of God celebrates its 100th anniversary, commemorating when 300 gathered, believing God to raise up a movement for “the greatest evangelism the world has ever seen.” We are part of the Church that believes in “...Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine...” (Eph. 3:20).
Royal Rangers is the result of an individual who dreamed and believed. Johnnie Barnes started it, but the reason Rangers still exists and thrives today is because every man and woman involved in the ministry since then still believes. They believe that God has a plan for them and that they can make a difference. They believe that they can do all things through Christ and that evangelizing, equipping and empowering the next generation of Christlike men and lifelong servant leaders is possible. They believe because He who began a good work in them will bring it to completion and that influencing more boys and young men than ever, more effectively than ever is going to happen! Never has there been a time that so desperately needs what we do. I believe God has positioned the Royal Rangers ministry for such a time as this. I’m excited and ready! Thank you to each of you for what you do. Our future isn’t up to one person, but together, infused with the Holy Spirit, our best days are ahead!
Together in His Service,
Karl Fleig
National Director of Royal Rangers

Re: New National comander.
A good leader says thanks to those that came before him. So this first letter did that.
We have a man that enjoys working with boys and likes to camp and is a avid outdoorsman. That is what I am looking for.
I will forgive the new age empower stuff for now. By the fruits we will see if he believes in the Power and might of the Holy Spirit to do the work. I hope he does just that. He he believes perhaps the Holy Spirit can clean up the tainting of the world into our Ranger program.
Our God is a jealous God. He does not take kindly to man trying to share in the empowerment business. He wants us to be reliant on HIM. Not on our puny efforts..but HIS work by HIS Spirit. There lays the power. Not us.

Agreed with Mark. Not making any judgements on a first "welcome" letter. Let's see what changes he wants to make first.
If nothing else, I'd like a break from complaining
