Card Board Regatta Campout
Here is the plans and rules for a Card Board Boat Regatta. This is a big event in our
Division. Loads of fun. We don't do the normal Pow Wow stuff. Just bring a tent and a ice chest and your chair and your cardboard boat and your set. Just fun and a great feast.
We cook up about 17 slabs of ribs and green beans, baked potatoe, salad and all the trimmings. Saturday it's a hot dog lunch. Only food we cook on this event is baggie omlets.
Here is the boat plans.

Re: Card Board Regatta Campout
We have an Official boat captian that MC's the races. He drives for the Branson Duck Tours but has to have the same training and certification as a Ship captian. He takes several yearly courses to stay up on his certification.
Loads of fun for sure. Please be in prayer for a good 2 days of weather. Folks bail on us when the forecast is not good...grin.
We go rain or shine. Had to stop a couple of times due to hard rain or lightning but we have so far been able to finish it. This time of year we get a lot of short storms that pass through.

Generous usage of duct tape is the key, along with strengthening the bottom. People sometimes forget to put the same effort into the paddle design. Even a billion dollar warship won't go anywhere without propulsion.

Re: Card Board Regatta Campout
I don't use ductape except for repairs. (I am too cheap to buy it) Just glue and cardboard. It takes a bit longer but our boats almost never sink.
I use brown contractors paper with water proof glue on the corners and folds. These two boats we just built have 2 ply 3 thickness walls and the floor is 3 ply 4.5 thickness walls. Pretty hardy boat.
We rolled the outside with thinnned waterproof glue.
Lots of fun.
Here is a new time lapse of the recent boat build.

We have been Regatta Racing for quite a time. I think nearly 15 plus years. Here is from where
I started keeping track using the web and these are all online. Lots of years of great fun.
I realize not all of you can make this event. So just in case your home bound..you can get a flash of the event through these pictures and past reports. A great project and a great event.
Paul Etheridge put me onto the idea some 15 years ago. It started with 3 boats and 3 outposts.
Good clean safe fun and Ministry.....32 folks baptized one year and many souls saved through these outreaches. Hope you can make the trip and bring your friends and family for this years Card Board Boat Regatta.

Re: Card Board Regatta Campout
Wow. What a day. Woke up at 5 am. Thinking of the 40 plus things I had on my list to get done.
Picked up the car hauler trailer and cardboad sheets and boats and strapped on the facades. Strapped on 5 large inner tubes and 4 smaller car tubes. Added firewood, Floating council fire and compressor and shade and a bunch more then strapped on 3 kayaks and then filled my truck shell up with PA, batteries, pumps extension cords, hoses, tables, computer, cameras and a whole lot more. Wow... I am READY!
We are going down early about 11 am to float and hang out and swim and unload and maybe fish before the Division of Royal Rangers come down for the Pow Wow and regatta race on Saturday.
It's been a busy 2 weeks with no Ranger Meetings...uhuh. Just a bunch of sunday work afternoons and Wed nights.
My truck looks like the Beverly Hillbillies. All we need is granny and we would be set.
Made up some masks this time and some cone heads to add some flash to the bash. Boys cut them out and painted them. I just hot glued on the elastic. We are going to look AWESOME!

Re: Card Board Regatta Campout
Hey we also had the local News TV station come down and video tape and interview. It was a nice gesture. My 4 seconds of fame was only the "the boys enjoy the sinking after many years of watching them on video of sinking they all have big grins on their faces as they sink"
Mark Jones
p.s. I just added video of my outposts boys being interviewed by the judges. A good watch. It's on the link posted in this thread.
