Bible Reading
I think it was over in the olde forum that I mentioned that we were giving some Bible reading and other light homework for the boys to do for their Bible merits. It's been going ok, but I'm streamlining it a little to make it more focused. I'm cutting out the other stuff and sticking with just having them read their Bibles. IMO, that's what counts most anyway! However, it's still a struggle for some of the boys. I talked to some of the boys and asked if questions for each chapter would help. They responded that they felt it would, so I've been busy creating questions from each chapter.
I looked online, but only found deeper style questions. I wanted something a little more cut and dried instead of deep thought questions. I've been doing things like "How many baskets of food were left over after Jesus fed the 5,000?" or "What did Jesus say healed blind Bartemaeus?". It's nothing that they can miss as long as they read the chapter. I've been doing 2-4 questions per chapter, but usually 3.
I'd be happy to email PDF files of what I do if anyone would be interested. I will say it'll take a long time before I have the whole Bible done! I'm basically just staying ahead of where the boys are reading.

Re: Bible Reading
Give this a try
http://children.cccm.com/curriculum/
I use them a lot. most of the questions with each lesson are what I like to call "were you listening" questions.
true or false
fill in the blank
multiple choice

Re: Bible Reading
Thank you for sharing that website! I may be able to use some of that when I do Children's Church.
What I'm creating for the RR's Bible reading is a chapter by chapter set of questions. I also keep the questions in order as they read, so they can easily fill in the answer when they come to it.

Re: Bible Reading
Here's a little example of what I'm making.
Mark 1
1) Who was the messenger that Isaiah had written about? _____________________________
2) Who’s mother-in-law did Jesus heal? _______________________
3) After Jesus healed the man with leprosy, did he obey what Jesus told him to do? _________
Mark 2
1) How many men helped carry the paralyzed man get to Jesus? _________________
2) Did Jesus’ disciples fast like John’s disciples and the Pharisees did? ______________
3) How did Jesus’ disciples break the law of the Sabbath according to the Pharisees?
___________________________________________________
4) According to Jesus, what was the Sabbath made for? _______________________
I also have an answer key. I realized when I was about done with Mark that I couldn't remember every single answer, so I had to back track to get those answers. Now I just make the answer key as I go.

OOH!
You'd better hope that Christi is on the trail with Chris this week-end, or your arms are going to be full of cat-scratches. ( )

Re: Bible Reading
Dan,
Since you seem to find deeper meaning in Olde English:
"Methinks thou hath been called a Whiner!"

Well, I do recall someone whining that I bought up all the ammo in the tristate area... Good olde advice, "be of little whine..."
You know that was funny! Truth be told I couldn't have a better mother in-law. She's generous to a fault. We only differ on our stance on protection.

Re: Bible Reading
Great website, thanks! Will attempt to answer the questions at my own time to build up and be confident on my biblical knowledge.ccm2361 wrote:here is another http://www.padfield.com/downloads/classbooks.htmlPhillip Gross wrote:Thank you for sharing that website!
