Ladies' Range Day
The Field Day for our Ladies' Pistol/Defensive Carbine Class was delayed, because of rain. My range is in a little valley on my property, so we need at least 2 days of dry weather for it to be comfortable.
During the Classroom Instruction, I used a Remington Cap & Ball Revolver to show them how & why the Revolver was invented. They were all very interested.
So we are planning the "Make-Up" day for shooting. I think that as the last event, I will give them each the opportunity to see what it is like to touch off a .454 round ball pushed by 25 grains of FFFG.

I'd LOVE to be able to have a range at my house!!Claymore wrote:The Field Day for our Ladies' Pistol/Defensive Carbine Class was delayed, because of rain. My range is in a little valley on my property, so we need at least 2 days of dry weather for it to be comfortable.

Sounds cool! Surely you're not having them shoot a .454 like this are you???

Re: Ladies' Range Day
Nope. Lead round balls.
However;
They are coming over at/about 5:30 PM, and we will shoot until it is almost dark (about 8:45 PM).
At that time of day, the black powder loads should belch a fireball about the size of a bushel basket.
(That'll give them something to talk about at the next Ladies' Bible Study.)

Re: Ladies' Range Day
I think we'll doing more shooting and camping at the nearby church we went to Fri-Sat. I'd love to get out of the incorporates cities too. For more reasons than shooting ranges, though that is a plus.

I just wanted to say that I thought it was cool that you did this class for ladies, it seems like this opportunity is not given much to us, but then, maybe most don't want it.

Acetacticalsystems does lady only classes down in this area. I think it helps them to feel more comfortable and not have to compete with macho types.

Re: Ladies' Range Day
I had some of that attitude caused by some of the men here.
I had been teaching the BB-Gun Program of Instruction to the Rangers.
So a few weeks before the ladies' class, we were in the Fellowship Hall for a dinner. One of the men shouted over to me and said,
"Hey! What you going to have them women shooting? BB-Guns?"
I replied, "No, Glocks and AR-15's"

Re: Ladies' Range Day
I believe that men & women are equal in value, but are not equal in many/most tasks. God wired us different for a reason.
If every car in a railroad train was a locomotive, you wouldn't get any cargo or passengers moved.
That being said, I do not need to bolster my own machismo by putting down women. I may get perplexed and frustrated with the other gender, but I do not ridicule them.

I agree. Dad always told me growing up that people who put others down do it to make themselves feel bigger because they're obviously missing something. If you're confident in who God has made you, then you you don't need to put others down.Claymore wrote:I believe that men & women are equal in value, but are not equal in many/most tasks. Re: Ladies' Range Day
To ridicule women is to put ourselves down. By that I mean woman was taken from man. She was part of him. When they unite in marriage they become in a sense one-flesh. We compliment each other physically and psychologically.
Anyone wonder why same-sex partners usually take on opposite gender roles is because hetero relationships are hardwired into us for a reason. Can't change our nature.

Re: Ladies' Range Day
The Lord is compared to a mother Hen who protects her chicks. I saw a Star Trek extra featurette that explained where Nimoy got the famous Vulcan salute. Nimoy peeked when during a synagogue service and seen the Rabbis do the same hand gesture. It represented the Shekhina glory of Jehovah. The Shekina glory refers to the feminine side of God as the root of the word is, "she".

Re: Ladies' Range Day
This is meant in reverence to both genders.
I have said that God has the Logic of a Man and the Love of a Woman.
In other words, he built, he created, he made everything work, and everything has a specific set of rules that they run by.
But that his love extends beyond Logic.
The best example is what I have seen as a police officer. You go to someone's house, where their 20-year-old meth-head, unmarried deadbeat-dad, burglar son has pulled another crime.
His dad says, "That's it. The kid's no good. I don't want him, ever, back in this house."
But Mom says, "Oh. He's a good boy. He just gets involved with some bad friends."
We're lucky that, when it comes to Judgement, God acts more like Mom than like Dad.
