Safety and Security Meetings
Tonight we had our first Safety and Security meeting for the Christian Ed dept. We discussed child a use, procedures, and active shooter situations.
Anyone else have similar discussions in their churches?

Re: Safety and Security Meetings
A few years ago all workers from nursery to youth went through a church policy training that included that.
That was when it was deemed I couldn't issue push-ups anymore. :(

We used to do that too. Didn't get any flack but probably would someday. Somebody would cry its cruel to the kids. I mean isn't cruel to me to have a bunch of rowdy boys screaming??? We say kids need exercis but pushups are bad for discipline? I mean kids are spoiled today with all this Mr Spock garbage err Dr Spock.

JoeCool & I had a discussion about that a while back.
When my Patrol Guide came back from JLTC, he had everyone doing Push-Ups.
I told him that Push-Ups Sounded Harsh and Looked Harsh.
So we did something nicer: Flutter-Kicks.
Doesn't that sound nice: "Flutter-Kicks".
(The boys wished that they still had Push-Ups.)

Re: Safety and Security Meetings
Our church thankfully has a no push ups policy. I fixed it one time by having the Commander that was having his way after several warnings on my part come up to the front of the meeting and I said in an authoritive voice. Get down and give me 10 pushups. He looked at me with a hurt expression and I said wait..hold on...your failure here was covered by the Blood of Christ fall back inline. Later that night he came up and apologized to me for humiliating these boys infront of the groups like he had been doing for a month or so. He got to feel it first hand and didn't like it. He thanked me for showing him how a boy feels at that moment.
As far as a shooter that walks in... he will be dead before he gets far in our church. They have armed security in plain clothes parked out observing each entrance as well as armed security in uniform inside the church. I like it that way.
Any fool that wants to kill innocent folk in the house of God should be put to their eternal reward.
Mark Jones
p.s. There is much better ways of dealing with people than hazing and humiliation. Christians have a better plan. I say have them sit with the meanest ole timer in the church and have them absorb some WORD in main church knowing they could be having a great time in Rangers if they were behaving better.

Re: Safety and Security Meetings
To some any form of punishment is humilation.
In my church we have 3 who carry including myself. Our head of security is my opc too. He is also an auxilary police officer. According bis research the security team should be no more than 8 persons for an avg church size. Ohio only allows those authorized by the presiding authority.
Are the uniformed and plain clothes security professional security paid by the church or individuals? Do the uniformed security guards open carry? I like both a layer of visible and invisible security.
