Boxley to Ponca Backpack
Friday night we head out to do 11.3 miles on the Buffalo River Trail BRT from the Boxley Trail head to the Ponca low water bridge on the Buffalo River. A new stretch of trail. This will almost complete my 36 miles of this trail.
2 weeks ago we were going to do this and a bit more on a 2 nighter. 100% chance of rain and 24 degree temps caused us to go to another location that had caves.
So this Friday night and sat are looking good weather wise. 39 for a high and 24 for a low. 20% chance of rain late on saturday.
Only have about 6 on this trip as it was impromtu just announced it 6 days ago.
Here is the trip info and map and stuff and Tim Ernst write up on the trail.

Why aren't you going to Steel as you'd planned before? Looks like only a couple miles difference.

We were going to do 2 nights. This one is only one night. 13.3 miles in one day with packs on with some climbs thown in is making it more work than play.
If we move fast we could do the other 2 miles. Weather forecast just moved to 30% chance of rain on Saturday afternoon.

7 going. 5 men and 2 ladies. Youngest is 15 and is my nephew...Missionary Kid.
We have fine tuned our gear. It's been cold. 10degrees this morning. Sunny right now..going to get up to 36 for a high low of 28..with 11 mph wind.
Saturday will be about the same. Rain moving in about the time we should be driving back towards home. Then a major snow storm and cold sub zero cold on sunday and Monday. Wooo Whoo Rangers! A perfect window of great weather.

We had a great time. We had a 24 hour window of better weather so we took the opportunity. Report and pictures at this link.
