Re: Culture Rot
I understand. I do see our system as rather slapping bandaids on a social ill instead of curing the root cause. The best way is education and offerring other options. Most of all Jesus Christ can change them like no law of man can. I'd rather forgive them and set them free like Jesus did to the woman whom the law condemned to death for adultery. What if some people said lets use the OT Torah and execute fornicators, adulterers, and homosexuals? But Jesus proved no one can follow the law and all of us deserve death. Before I lock up a woman who is desparately addicted to drugs or wants to feed her kids I should lock myself up. Let he who hath no sin cast the first stone.

Uh, oh! Who's in charge of education? Because the left owns the classroom soapbox, they've pushed gay rights, sexual freedom, and the evil of America for the last 40 years. This may be the biggest reason our culture is the way it is now. Two whole generations have moved through the system and are now in charge of so much. I appreciate your last line, though I would change "most of all" to "only".
Merry Christmas, all!

Re: Culture Rot
Funny small print. I was saying the opposite that Jesus can save and change. Also, education is not 100% bad when homeschooling and private Christian education is still open. When I mentioned education I was referring more to job skills training and basic core life skills like budgeting, math, reading, writing, home economics, etc not the political stuff. Lack of a good education and options is one of the causes of so many problems.
The saying its easier to build boys than mend men is the same for girls too. I think it maybe easier to do this for women but still better to invest $ and time in young people now instead of $ into prisons later. Besides spiritual salvation what we do in Royal Rangers and/or AHG, etc is educating them with proper values and God's truth. When I read the Proverb, "train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it" is indoubtedly speaking about education. When you train you are educating.

Re: Culture Rot
I think if you look at when we took prayers out of school..the whole thing went sour. I know it's in the heart of man to fix it himself.
Yet through the years I have learned God is really the only one that can fix anything. Yet I must do my part and put my faith there... my flesh will still do what it knows to do that is right..yet it's really God that makes the changes in the hearts of people.
The world and for the biggest part the church thinks they can change people to be better citizens. When in reality it's hopeless with out Christ. A façade at best. A stumbing block for most.
Cut to the bone and show them Christ and HE Cleans them up.

(Forgive me if this ends up being a double post. I sent one at the same time as Mark's, but it didn't end up on this thread. My bad somewhere.)
Dan, I hear you on education. That's why my second "career" was with Christian schools. But I saw some bad there, too. I believe that home schooling is the best way to go, but only a relative few can afford it. I refer to the loss of a second income.
The mid-West state's name escapes me, but a Democrat politician recently withdrew his proposed bill. It would have mandated a gov't evaluation to determine a family's suitability to home school. Too much blowback.
Fight, fight, and fight again. Don't give the godless left any room. "I am Phil!"

Re: Culture Rot
That's essentially what I was getting at. We need to demonstrate Christ's forgiveness rather than condemning people through the laws of our nation. The clip from Neeson's character in Les Miserables played during NRMC. The constable had the prostitute dead to rights and the priest could have sent Neeson to prison for stealing from the church. Both could have been prosecuted but were not. They ended up better people when mercy and grace was shown.

Re: Culture Rot
I'm pretty sure none of you watched the Emmys last night. I never have. But the headlines are pretty bad. Besides marrying gays during the program, one of the "singing" acts was called demonic by other entertainers present. The culture gets progressively worse as celebrities try to out-do (out-gross) the last one.
This is not my home. Just passing through.

Wasn't it the Grammy's? Yea, every year these award shows and the Superbowl are filled more and more demonic, Luciferian, occult/Illuminati symbols, and messages. Several performers admit you literally have to sell your soul to the devil to make it big in the entertainment industry.

I listened to one of Lady Gaga's earlier songs and remember thinking, "Man, she has a great singing voice." Too bad she has to mess it all up with her shock shtick.

In Sunday school last week, I was going over "charisma versus character" with the older elementary kids. Used Justin Beiber's recent run-ins with the law as an example. Turns out the kids quit being Beiliebers a long time ago. They already know the difference between charisma and character. Made me smile.
By the way, there's a new petition on the White House website to recommend deporting the youth back to Canada.

Re: Culture Rot
Breaking news. NBC will have a lesbian comedy next season, starring Ellen DeGeneres. This comes as many gay shows and characters were axed last season. Why are they doubling down? The NBC Entertainment Chairman is openly gay. Anybody surprised?
Who will advertise on a show whose theme hasn't done well? It's all about the agenda, and not returning the best possible dividends to the stockholders.

Re: Culture Rot
Well, it goes to show that their professed "agenda" for the past 50 years has been a lie.
50 years ago, they just wanted their relationships to be decriminalized, so that they were not persecuted for the behavior of consentual adults in private.
After it was decriminalized, they wanted it "normalized".
After "normalization" they wanted it officiated as being on-par with traditional marriage (legalized marriage and marriage tax advantages).
Now, they do not want "normalization", they want "celebration" of the life-style. It is to be forced upon all, and if your traditional or religious beliefs dictate otherwise, then you are a bigot, and they will sue & harass any traditional or religious institutions that hold on to those outdated values.

Give the devil an inch he takes a mile. You try to appease a dictator he attempts to rule the world. Incremental changes work best for the LEFT. Its easier to boil a frog slowly than to suddenly toss him into a hot pot. The devil has always been subtle and crafty.

Here we go again! Of course, we all knew the gay lobby wouldn't be satisfied with the Boy Scouts' acceptance of confused kids. Now, California's supreme court ethics committee wants to ban the participation of any judge with the Boy Scouts. Why? Because gay "men" aren't allowed to be scoutmasters.
And the slouch towards Sodom and Gomorrah continues.

Now we're running towards Sodom and Gomorrah. Buying Naked, on cable's TLC, shows nudists looking at real estate sans clothes. And VH1 is putting together Naked Dating. What's next? An effort to improve Congress' horrendously low approval numbers with a show titled Budgets in the Buff?

You're right about the "slide".
I was just reading that in/about 1960, the Television Network censured Jack Paar for using the term "water closet".

What was wrong with water closet? Isn't that an old term for "bathroom"?

Re: Culture Rot
Here is the joke. The term "W.C." meant "Water Closet", and is used by the British much more commonly than here:
An English lady is visiting Switzerland. She asks about the location of the "W.C." The Swiss, thinking she is referring to the "Wayside Chapel", leaves her a note that said (in part) "the W.C. is situated nine miles from the room that you will occupy... It is capable of holding about 229 people and it is only open on Sunday and Thursday... It may interest you to know that my daughter was married in the W.C. and it was there that she met her husband... I shall be delighted to reserve the best seat for you, if you wish, where you will be seen by everyone."
The censors cut the joke out, and Jack Paar walked off the show the next night.

The slouch is starting to pick up speed. The Disney empire announced today that they are cutting off support for the Boy Scouts until they allow gay scoutmasters. After all the years it took before BSA caved in on gay "kids", I thought it would be a while before they went all in.
Anybody want to join the pool for when BSA will allow gay leaders? My prediction is April 15, 2016.
