2013 Chartering process
Have you guys noticed a change in the online chartering procedure this year? I got this questionaire when I went to charter. most of it is fine but the ones in bold type kind of bother me.
Terms
The church affirms the divinity of Christ; that Jesus is God, and that He is the only way for mankind to restore relationship with God. Jesus is savior, healer, baptizer, and soon coming king.
I agree
The church is Pentecostal, Pentecostal-friendly, or aware and comfortable affiliating with a Pentecostal ministry:
Royal Rangers is decidedly Pentecostal. But as a matter of practice, Royal Rangers does not govern how autonomous local churches teach its curriculum. Provided the local church does not depart from salvation through Jesus Christ alone (see #1 above), the church is free to emphasize the doctrinal themes offered in the Royal Rangers curricula to the degree they wish. However, at organizational events, churches and individuals can expect a Pentecostal emphasis: the message that Jesus freely offers salvation for our soul, healing for our body and mind, empowerment with his Holy Spirit subsequent to salvation for a life of service, and hope of eternity with Him after His second coming. Any church choosing to associate with Royal Rangers accepts this and agrees to work cooperatively and harmoniously with the Assemblies of God and other like-minded fellowships who share a vision to mentor future men.
I agree
The church and its leadership will support and model the national Royal Rangers leadership standard. Click here.
I agree
The church is willing to work in alignment with the policies and procedures of the Royal Rangers ministry and use copyright materials and trademarks according to our guidelines.
See our policy section on the national ministry web site.
See Emblems and Trademarks Acceptable Use Policy.
I agree
The church will serve in harmony with other fellowships using Royal Rangers and endeavor in word and deed to make "Royal Rangers the premier church ministry for next generation men in America, period!"
I agree
The church agrees to purchase original/official ministry resources and gear from the national Royal Rangers office via its authorized outlets (RoyalRangers.com; MyHealthyChurch.com; GospelPublishing.com; 1-855-642-2011, customer care; and annual ministry catalog).
I agree
The national Royal Rangers office strongly recommends that every church sponsoring Royal Rangers review and implement our recommendation for screening and supervision of adult leaders who work with minors. The local church is responsible for screening and approving adult leaders to work with minors.
I agree
Royal Rangers provides quality training for outpost leaders approved by their local church. All churches sponsoring Royal Rangers will encourage each leader to complete his or her Outpost Leader Advancement Levels training within 1-3 years of joining Royal Rangers leadership.
I agree
The church recognizes the right of the national Royal Rangers office to revoke program use and charter privileges from any church/outpost deemed to be in violation of national policy.

I suppose that this means: Uniforms, T-Shirts, Ribbons, Numerals, etc?

The above attitude seems to be akin to "The Beatings Shall Continue, Until the Morale Improves."
I believe that, if you hit "them" in the pocketbook, they should eventually take notice.

Re: 2013 Chartering process
I also didn't appreciate the new legalese. I've never failed to re-charter, but I did get everything I needed for this year's merits before last year's membership expired. Saved some money that way.
What a disappointment when the package arrived. Not worth giving the editions to man, boy, or beast. Straight into the trash. So let me get this straight...we pay hundreds of dollars in order to get a 15% discount on supplies? What a deal. I made the mistake of telling all this to our new children's pastor. Potential ammo for him to drop RRs.

Re: 2013 Chartering process
A Word on that alleged "discount" the prices all shot up 15% or so midnight the day we got a discount. They didn't incrementally raise prices gradually. In effect the "discount" for chartered outpost is really a penalty for unchartered outposts. Minimum charter of $200 would require me to purchase $1333 in order to recoup the charter fee.
Joecool just run it unchartered and you're fine to shop around.
I don't get how its ok to not have a uniform nowadays but if you do you must use what they offer...

That's a great thing 'bout this Forum. You can Speak the Truth, and so long as it is semi-constructive, there is no friction for it. It's a good place to go when your "SillinessMeter" is pegging out.joecool wrote:I made the mistake of telling all this to our new children's pastor. Potential ammo for him to drop RRs.
I never tell anyone at church of any of my frustrations with the Program. It's kind-of like being on a Detachment (or I suppose a Boat's Command Staff). We can "vent" to each other, but keep a Stiff-Upper-Lip in front of the Troops.
And my Philosophy is, "If HQ doesn't like it, what are they going to do; dock me two weeks pay and put a nasty note in my Personnel File?"

Re: 2013 Chartering process
I've let a few things be known to leaders and my CE director. I keep it quiet from the boys its a bit above their level.

Re: 2013 Chartering process
My District Director just emailed and asked if it was ok to put my article and some pictures from this link in the District Messenger Magazine. Sent it off tonight.

The Rangers Now just gets worse and worse. Last copy I thought was bad..this one is worse. What a shame they don't have anything to talk about.

Re: 2013 Chartering process
Thanks Shane. After rereading that it sounds like not only charter is revoked but they can somehow make you cease and desist use of runing Royal Rangers altogether. Is it just me or does it sound that way to anyone else?

Re: 2013 Chartering process
Can you imagine the scandalous reporting from the Secular Media, if they follow through:
"World's Largest Christian Scouting Organization Sues Churches to Cease & Decist from Using Their Program!"

Grin. I don't think they will go down that path. Yet it's there as an option for them. Man with out God leading him will do all kinds of really really really carnal things.

Re: 2013 Chartering process
At the Christian school I worked with, the annual employee's contract used scripture to say that teachers couldn't sue the school. A little further down, the contract stated that the school could sue a teacher for etc, etc, etc

Re: 2013 Chartering process
Grin. A perfect example of scripture throwing. I believe in Grace. God has given us an example. It's the best way. That law stuff just gets stinkier the deeper you get into it.
Man flip flops all around the place. God is the same yesterday, today and tommarow.
His ways are way above anything a man can come up with.

Re: 2013 Chartering process
Funny how an individual can't sue but a corporation of individuals can sue you!

So can you have a tracclub membership without chartering? I know you can order from GPH without a charter.

Re: 2013 Chartering process
Yup!
They'll take your money, whether you're chartered or not.
Their alternative is that non-chartered outposts will continue to teach from the old materials, and they will receive nothing.

Yeah, the subscription is 15% penalty for being unchartered. Well worth the price to not charter.
