New 2013-2014 Catalog
Since I've been off Royal Rangers for the summer I just checked my inbox. I found the new catalog. I'm sure many of you have had it for awhile.
I really like how it a bit thinner not so much redundancy. First product page of RR2.0 gets an eyeroll. I noticed a new manual cover for leaders with Doug and a boy in a canoe. Is that boy one of Doug's own? Wonder if he actually does water activities on his own time
Getting hi-tech with all the new QR codes for mobile devices.
I see the RK CD is back!
New group shirts, eh not my style but like the splash ones.
Certificates have been redone without the blocky RR2.0 multi-focus theme. Very nice change. Imagine us wacko forum nuts were right again.
I noticed, "more coming" in the red leadership merits. Does that mean they are going to produce 107 and beyond? In a 3 yr program you only have time for 6 reds if done every 6 months. The golds and sky blue don't advertise more coming. If they add more reds will they revise the core leadership requirements again?
Page 32 we get info on ordering the dress uniform. I was thinking they were quietly discouraging its use. Nice to see it added. A picture would have been nice though. I do it in the old catalog but they misprinted it as the formal khaki uniform.
Page 35 they've added the rain poncho from NRMC and pewter hat pin I like. The bolos have a choking hazard warning that talks about balloons. Odd since they are strings not balloons.
JLTA camps have been renamed *AC for action camp. I suppose the camps intended for adults are renamed to be inclusive while JTC stays the same. Nice addition of Luke 2:52. RMA polos are added. NRMC one of my guys bought one they said anyone who trains boys can buy one. In Ohio and now in the catalog it appears its for TA certified instructors.
The keychain is nice but has EEE on its caribiner. I like the money clip. All of the 50th anniv stuff has been discounted. Flash drive is still pricey for a measly 1GB. Postcards on page 44 are nice. I may get them stamped with our address and hand them out during parades.
Overall a good tweak of last years' catalog. A thinner book benefits nat'l and field as well.
